A funky pre-wedding in KLPAC: Kenny & Grace

By 27/09/201215 Comments

The 3 of us have something in common. Kenny, Grace and I. Of course, the fact that Grace’s name is Grace, scores like, 100 points with me.  All Graces are cool. :)

But no, Kenny’s middle name is not Grace. The common ground we all share is the fact that each of us worked at the same place at one point in our lives. Many years ago, when I was a freelance video editor, I was based in a company called Edit House, and that was where I met Kenny for the first time. My first impression of him was that he was a really friendly and chatty guy. After my 2 month job ended, I left and we didn’t really keep in touch after that. Some time later, Grace joined the same company and that’s where they both met.

Sometime this year, I got a call from Kenny, and surprisingly I still had his number stored there! We chatted and he told me about his wedding and wanting to do a pre-wedding photo shoot – sorta gothic style, sorta street grungy and yet silly. When I met Grace for the first time, I thought…wow, they seem sooooo different! She came across as this sweet, gentle girl who spoke softly. Opposites attract?

But then again, as the shoot progressed, I realized she also had this funky and silly streak in her that matched Kenny’s. :)

Quick change of clothes and we headed to the streets of KL!

By the way, there is a little story behind the image below (bottom right)… after I posed Kenny and Grace, crossed the busy road to take this photo from afar… a guy walked to the wall behind Grace and started peeing against the wall (it was a few steps below but we could still see half his body). We waited for at least 1 minute and he didn’t move. He must have drank a lot of water that morning! So I had to reframe my shot while he was peeing behind Grace… and took the shot below instead.

Kenny and Grace, all the best for the wedding! It was great catching up with you, Kenny and getting to know you, Grace. May you have lots of fun adventures together in the future!

    Hi Grace,

I am also interested to take my pre-wedding photo shoot at klpac. However, the management said we have to pay RM500 which is only cover the klpac surrounding area. Other than that like the colonial mansion, sentul park are under YTL control. So, i would like to ask how much you charge during ypur pre-wedding photo shoot at klpac and do you have the YTL management contact?
Hope to hear from you soon.

    Dear Grace,

I went to KL PAC last Saturday and found out that those colonial mansion was not in the package of RM500 which is under YTL control. Do you mind to share YTL management contact? As those photos taken are too lovely and I would like to have a memorable wedding photography shooting there … :)

    Thank you, Grace.

  • Grace Tan says:

    Hi Susan and Yap,

This client of ours only contacted KLPAC for the permission to shoot there. We didn’t contact YTL, so pretty much all the locations are permitted by KLPAC except maybe the one next to the spools where we stole a quick shot! :) As for management contact, you can head on to http://www.klpac.org/ and find the number there. Yap, yes you can have a wedding there, it’s been done before.

Hi Grace, such a lovely photos you have at KLPAC. Can you please give us some advice on how to get permission to do photoshoot at KLPAC? Even if i willing to pay RM530, the place allowed for photoshoot are limited (not inclusive of abandoned building). Appreciate your kind advice as i’m looking high and low in the internet to get some guidance.

    • Grace Tan says:

Hi Erica, Thanks for your comment! We usually work within the limitations given to us, so we just shoot around the areas that are under KLPAC and not YTL. Unfortunately, we can’t do the shoot at the abandoned building.

  • Grace Tan says:

Hui Shian, the email has been sent to you! :) Thanks!

  • Freya says:

Hi Grace , would u mind to send me the YTL contact as well . I love the colonial building .

    • Grace Tan says:

      Hi Freya,

Sorry we don’t have the contact for YTL as we didn’t shoot at the abandoned building. If you’d like to shoot at KLPAC, you can head on to their official website and contact them there to request for permission and arrange for payment. Thanks!
