As a mother of two, I love planning themed birthday parties for my kids and finding unique ideas to execute to make their birthdays extra special. In fact, when my daughter was 4 years old, we came up with a list of fun party themes we could do in the coming years. But I find that as the years go by, we start to slowly run out of ideas. So, I thought what better way than to compile a list of unique places to hold a party for parents who are struggling to think of fun things to do around KL and PJ. From a whimsical kids spa to rolling fun and exciting outdoor adventures, these unique kids’ party ideas will turn the special day into an unforgettable experience.
Jac & Ivy
Get a pampering kids nail spa experience at Jac and Ivy. Kids get wrapped in luscious mini-sized ropes (yes, they have one for both girls and boys) and sip drinks while getting kid-friendly face masks and water-based manicures and pedicures. The spa uses Puttisu products from Korea, which have 100% kid-friendly and non-toxic ingredients which are suitable for children ages 3 and up. Kids get their own little corner for their pamper session on mini chairs, while parents can also relax and indulge in a nail session of their own. Jac and Ivy also create a special birthday tea party with mini treats, decorations, and they can even get a photography session on the spot with Stories.

Rollerwa
Get the party rollin’ with roller skates! Roller skating is making a big comeback and what better way to do it with a cool laser-light ambience filled with the latest k-pop songs? At Rollerwa, there are plenty of Instagram-worthy places to take photos and places to rest if your feet get tired. If you are new to skating, fear not! They offer walkers on wheels for beginner skaters on weekdays, and there are places at the side with less slippery mats and hand-holding bars for you to practice your skating skills. If your kid is an avid skater, they are allowed to even bring their own quad roller skates (no rollerblades). They provide both skates and safety gear so you just need to show up. For birthday events, Rollerwa has a private party room set aside, which allows you to bring your own food and drinks for the special occasion.

GSC Play Plus
Movie buffs unite! These days, most cinemas like GSC Play Plus offer birthday party packages where you can rent out the whole cinema for your kids and the whole family to enjoy. Offering more than just the movie experience, kids get to also play in playgrounds inside and/or outside the cinema halls before or during the movie (party packages offer additional hours to play). The movie screening halls are also kid-friendly, catering to softer audio levels and dim lights throughout the film for kids who do not like the dark. Kids also get to sit on comfy kid sofa chairs or family sharing sofas.

Fire station
Yes, you can make your kids’ dream of being a real firefighter for a day come true and celebrate at a fire station. Kids get educated on fire safety procedures and drills, try on fire uniforms and gear, slide down the pole, ride a fire truck with the sirens on, and get sprayed down by a water hose. Just choose a fire station near you, look for the branch’s direct contact number, and reach out to their friendly staff. You will need to write a formal letter request and wait about 1-2 weeks for approval. The best part is that it is FREE! (but it would be good to give a small token of appreciation.)

Superpark
Need a place for your kids to run around and burn off all that birthday cake? Superpark is suitable for energetic kids from young toddlers to older teens. Located at the heart of KL, they offer plenty of fun games and activities, including flying fox, jumping trampolines, wall climbing, and interactive games. Kids get to choose to play alone or in team challenges coordinated by the staff. For birthday events, they offer private party rooms and special packages.

Farm Fresh
Three words to sum up the experience would be cute animals, beautiful scenery, and milk boba. What else do you need? For kids who love animals, you would not want to miss out on this experience. Farm Fresh at UPM offers a petting zoo, a scenic tractor ride to the top of the hill, and, of course, loads of cows! Kids get to not only enjoy the animals and nature, but they also get to indulge themselves in the fresh dairy products that Farm Fresh has to offer, including fresh milk, ice cream, and my kids favourite, – boba milk! The whole farm is very scenic, and there is even a restaurant there that serves freshly grown vegetables from their own greenhouse.

Blue Ice Skating Rink
If your kids are tired of the hot Malaysian weather, then cooling off at the Blue Ice Skating Rink would be the perfect party venue for you! Escape into this ice cold venue for some fun and exercise. They offer party packages which include basic training on ice or games and an area to set up for your party with decorations and food. Don’t forget to bring a jacket and gloves!
