Ceylonese Temple Wedding: Dr Kuhan & Dr Kavitha

It was a love story that began in 2 different countries – Malaysia and New Zealand. A chance encounter online led them to become friends and eventually, despite the thousands of kilometres between them, they drew closer together emotionally. The wedding of Dr Kuhan and Dr Kavitha took place in the gorgeous Kalamandapam hall in Brickfields, Malaysia. It is our pleasure to be part of this lovely celebration. Congratulations, Dr Kuhan & Dr Kavitha!

Pre-Wedding Love Story Video: Jason & Victoria

The moment we met Jason and Victoria, we fell in love with them! As a couple, they are just so adorable together and they are just so full of life. The fun and warm energy they exude just bubbles over and infects everyone they meet. When we were discussing ideas for their pre-wedding video, we got to know them so much more as a person… including all of Jason’s OCD actions and Victoria’s love for all things girly. But in all seriousness, we see their love for each other, people and for God that binds them together as a couple.

This video was played as an intro before Victoria’s grand entrance into church during the wedding ceremony. Chi Yin did a great job shooting the video below. We revisited Lake Gardens for the shoot – the location where their original proposal took place.

Family Portraits: Dr Nick Boden & Elaine Daly

We’re glad to have the opportunity to meet Elaine Daly, actress, TV host, former beauty queen and National director of Miss Universe Malaysia Organization together with her husband, Dr Nick Boden, who is an accomplished chiropractor, originally from South Africa. As a family, they were both warm and welcoming as the team headed over to their home for some family portraits. We were pleased to be acquainted with Eva and Mia, their adorable daughters. Not to mention, their lovely dog who happily sat there for some photos (though refused to be in the group shots).

Although it was a drizzly day, we managed to sneak some photos out in their backyard, making images in corners they said they hardly visited. Thank you for your being so accommodating and we hope you enjoyed the session as much as we did!

Nick and Elaine are supporting our fund raising campaign for Make-A-Wish Malaysia. We aim to raise a minimum of RM5,000 to donate towards critically ill children so that they have the courage to face the future. To find out more about this fund raising campaign, and how you can help by booking a photography session with us, please visit www.stories.my/make-a-wish.

Grace’s 40th Birthday

It took me a while to decide whether I wanted to have a birthday party for myself to celebrate this huge milestone – reaching 40. I’ve been planning my kid’s birthday parties, so organizing one for myself seemed like another tiring task on the plate. In the end, I contacted Rachel of Pretty Little Things to assist with the decorations for the party and she did an amazing job setting everything up. Alex helped to source and sandpaper all the wooden pallets you see here. And I added stress to myself thinking about my guests and what I could do to make it really fun for everyone, yet filled with things that were meaningful to me. So this was what I came up with:

1. A 15 minute massage station for guests

2. A personalised photo frame with all my guests’ names calligraphed by a friend, Cherbreena

3. A photo corner where my dedicated photographer, Chi Yin, took photos of all my guests who walked in and then Abel printed it out and placed it in the personalised frame

4. A pre-loved book section for my guests to adopt some of my personal book collection for their reading pleasure

5. A corner where guests could choose an air plant or succulent to bring home as gifts

6. A station where people could buy Naam.asia products (a social enterprise) and essential oils from Oilees (a business started by a friend, Michelle)

7. A soap making workshop corner, made possible by Esther & Elizabeth

Honestly, halfway through planning this party, I was wondering whether having a birthday party to celebrate yourself seems very narcissistic! I had to remind myself that it is ok to pamper yourself once in a while and to just enjoy the process. In the end, I truly had a blast on that day with all my precious friends. Seeing them happy made me truly happy too.
