Noel & Celine – Peranakan Wedding Shoot in Melaka

This bridal photo session was organised as a styled shoot by the Association of Wedding Professionals (AWP). It was meaningful for me, because Melaka is my hometown, and I even took my own bridal portraits at the Persatuan Peranakan Cina Melaka 17 years ago. The Peranakan culture is slowly dying, so this is my tribute towards preserving heritage and encouraging couples to go back to their roots for their bridal portraits. It would be even more meaningful if couples could consider taking portraits at their family or ancestral home. Contact us if you’d like to book a portrait session!

A Proposal and Portraits at Taman Saujana Hijau – Derwin & Grace

It has been a while since we photographed a proposal, and it was certainly adrenaline pumping to hide behind thin trees that could barely conceal the 2 friends and 2 photographers waiting anxiously for the couple to turn up. But it was definitely exciting to be part of this surprise engagement!

We posted Derwin and Grace’s proposal photos on our social media some time ago, but we would love to also share with you the portraits we took post-proposal! Taman Saujana Hijau is a lovely park to visit for portraits. There’s so many beautiful areas accompanied by tall nourished trees which helps to cool down the Malaysian heat too. A wonderful couple and a gorgeous location, what more could we ask for!

Pre-Wedding: Kit Mah & Cindy

It was a pleasure to photograph Kit Mah and Cindy’s pre-wedding photos. When Kit Mah and Cindy first met online, they approached each other to chat about work, health, and wellness. As they got to know each other more, Kit Mah was impressed by how Cindy was such a dedicated and highly disciplined person. Kit Mah found many common things in them, and they shared many of the same values. One day, Cindy was leaving for a trip to Indonesia, and Kit Mah was speaking at the Integrative Medicine Conference 2019 for the first time. Despite the packed schedule, Kit Mah still had Cindy in mind and wished her a safe flight. Cindy was touched by how thoughtful he was. That was one of the sweetest memories for both of them. They continued building the relationship, having so much to share with each other, and the time together was never enough. The connection was strong and special. Kit Mah has even created a book to document their love journey together.

Malay Engagement Ceremony: Arif & Li Ann

Arif and Li Ann are high school sweethearts who got engaged early this year. The ceremony was held at his house and it gathered their closest friends and family. It was a dreamy event, laced with the prettiest garden flowers and natural light. The atmosphere was warm and charming, kinda like a reunion of sorts. You could see just how comfortable they and their families were with each other.

Arif and Li Ann themselves couldn’t stop grinning at each other throughout the day. We were told they used used to purposely stay back after school just so they would have more time to spend together. And when they weren’t in school together, they exchanged plenty of calls… PRANK calls apparently!

Arif loves coffee and started his own coffee company here in KL after returning from the UK. Thanks to his passion, we were all treated to free flow coffee from Wolf & Turtle. Li Ann also has creative flair and works as a 3D animator for video games! She loves animals and the ocean and hopes to one day be a beach bum with her parrots and husband! We just love how fun and quirky this couple is.

Well, after a 10-year wait… we’re so happy to see them step into a new chapter of life together!

Post-Wedding Portraits: Azin & Kasra

Azin & Kasra are from Iran but have family living in Malaysia. The planning for their post-wedding portraits took place remotely over WhatsApp calls, with voice messages in English and also translated into Persian through their relative living here. We felt really happy to meet them, and to bring them around our beautiful city of Kuala Lumpur. Though language sometimes hindered communication, eventually, we had a successful shoot thanks to body and sign language! This can be quite tough when you are trying to get natural expressions from the couple, but I think the photos turned out well, thanks to Jennifer’s direction.
