Lego Themed Wedding: Adrian & Jessica

When you love Lego as much as Adrian and Jessica, you’ll be prepared to sacrifice a lot of your free time before the wedding putting it together. At least for Jessica anyway, as I am not too sure how much time Adrian had in between flights as a pilot! I am seriously not a patient person, so doing something like this would make me stressed! My favourites are the ring ‘pillow’, Lego cupcakes and dinner cake, and even the wedding invite.

Adrian and Jessica had their wedding ceremony at Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside. The ceremony was conducted by their pastor from Metro Tabernacle Church. It was a hot, sunny day, but it was a sweet ceremony shared between family and friends. I love how Adrian always has this perpetual grin on his face, always smiling and good natured.

Congratulations to the both of you! I hope you have a nice showcase in your house to display your entire Lego collection!

Behind the Scenes Video: Eu Jin & Samantha’s Prewedding

Our aim at every pre-wedding shoot is to relax and just have fun! For Eu Jin and Samantha’s pre-wedding, we headed to Sekeping Tenggiri and UPM. It rained just after we completed the shoot at Sekeping Tenggiri but thank God the weather held up while we were at UPM. One of the biggest challenges for me during this shoot was to drive our resident VW kombi, Smurfette to UPM. My short legs and lack of arm muscles posed a problem on the road (especially when doing 3 point turns with this non-power steering manual vehicle!), but thank God we survived!

Really had lots of fun too with Jamie assisting. And of course, this video wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for Chi Yin who filmed and edited the video.

We will be posting the photos from the pre-wedding shoot at a later stage, so keep a look out for it!

Wedding of John & Hazel at St Irini Chapel, Santorini

20150408_WEDDING_JOHN_HAZEL_01

Santorini… the gorgeous island that has captured the hearts of many all over the world. There is something about the sea, cliffs and amazing sunset that makes us feel as if this is the place for romance. I was really thrilled to be invited to John and Hazel’s wedding in Santorini last month (by default since my husband Alex was invited!), but in the weeks leading up to the wedding, suddenly, I wasn’t just a guest anymore… I was their photographer! And then suddenly, Alex was also appointed as the ‘pastor’ and ‘celebrant’ (though the official Greek celebrant was present too).

That was the start of our Santorini adventure.

John and Hazel wanted an intimate wedding, with just 11 guests (including us!). When we arrived the day before the wedding, it was really windy and cold. Apparently, winter had not left this beautiful island, and most of the locals were also complaining about the weather. It rained on the wedding day (with no contingency plan), so we prayed really hard that the rain would stop…which it did! I applaud Hazel for braving the elements in her strapless gown… it was absolutely freezing that day! (I had 4 layers of clothing on, one of which included a leather jacket).

Naturally, the breathtaking view of the Caldera and the Aegean sea from the Santa Irini Chapel trumped the cold weather we had to endure.

I truly enjoyed this wedding for so many reasons, but most of all, it was a meaningful ceremony filled with love. You could see it in their eyes. The family and guests who were there truly loved John and Hazel. There were many things that happened that day (rain, flat tyre on the way to the chapel, Hazel almost falling flat on her face as she walked down the aisle) but they took it in stride. Everyone had fun, and it was a beautiful day.

Nikah at Carcosa Seri Negara: Stephen & Dayana

20150123_WEDDING_STEVE_DAYANA_32He keeps tarantulas and poison dart frogs as pets. He enjoys camping, regardless of the weather and loves everything about nature. If Steve could choose, he’d probably say that he’d feel comfortable living in a jungle. She however, balks at outdoor activities. Though she did try once to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland but froze when she saw the steep cliffs. That was the start and end of her outdoor days. She has not left the sofa since.

Despite their differences in personality and culture, they have managed to make things work. And that is the beauty of Stephen and Dayana’s relationship.

20150123_WEDDING_STEVE_DAYANA_27Their History

Dayana: Steve and I have been together for six years. We met at the University of Manchester, when we both studied for our Ph.Ds. Steve was at the beginning of his final year, meanwhile I had just started my first year. It wasn’t love at first sight, but I could feel the attraction. I honestly thought he fancied someone else then. But the endless teasing from my colleagues made me wonder. It turned out everyone in our office knew that he liked me. And that’s where it all began — at the School of Chemistry!

We were together for about a year before Steve had to move over 200 miles away for a new job. We weren’t sure if a long distance relationship could work, but decided to give us a chance. We saw each other twice a month, but we made sure to speak on the phone every night. It wasn’t easy. That went on for nearly a year and half. Like any other relationships, we’ve had our ups and downs. We haven’t been together for a lifetime (yet), but it has been the most fulfilling and challenging relationship of our lives. Along the way, we’ve learned to compromise and to respect both of our cultures.

Garden Wedding at Pulai Springs Resort, JB: Andrew & Desiree

20150117_WEDDING_ANDREW_DESIREE_0623“So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me… everyday.” – The Notebook –

Those words from Desiree’s favourite movie were part of Andrew’s vows to her that day. Although it had been 10 years since they have been together, every single day felt as fresh as if it were the first day of their relationship. To them, life is about enjoying simple things together. Just laughing at each other’s silly antics, having a snuggle on the couch, watching reruns of favourite movies.

Marriage is hard work. But it is totally worth the effort.

Congratulations Andrew and Desiree. You have to read the rest of their story here in their pre-wedding post.

Since we had too many favs from this wedding, we only posted the garden wedding photos at Pulai Springs Resort, JB and dinner at the Renaissance Hotel, JB. Watch their tear-jerking wedding video highlight to see more of what happened on that day, including Andrew’s rap performance and some ‘cheesy’ but cute lines from the both of them!
