Destination Weddings on Travel Channel

I am stoked to share that the TV programs I have been working on for the past few months are finally completed and will be screened next week! With Red Communications Sdn Bhd as the production company, my team and I provided the research, scriptwriting & direction for 3 episodes of Destination Weddings, a program that will be aired in 130 countries worldwide via the Travel Channel. Initially, the program was meant to be aired in selected countries only, but everyone did such a great job that it is now a worldwide release!

Deborah Henry is the travel host, and together, we visited various South East Asian countries to experience 2 very different weddings in each country. Here’s the episode synopsis for the programs I directed, including the episode’s air time for Malaysia. You can view it every Thursday, starting 6th December 2012 at 7.30pm on Channel 145 if you have HyppTV. For other countries, check out the air time by clicking here.

Pre-Wedding Love Story: Tze Seong & Joanne

Tze Seong & Joanne’s Love Story from Stories on Vimeo.

One of the services we offer is a dramatized, personalized pre-wedding love story. It’s a unique way of sharing your story with your wedding guests. Every Love Story video is different, and we can incorporate interviews into the video as well.

All that’s being presented in this video is true historically, from the attire, to the gifts, to the venue, etc, and that meant that we shot their first date in Jonker Walk, Malacca! Thank God that Joanne could remember all the details! Well, men are always forgetful when it comes to these kinda things, eh? ;)

Tze Seong’s from Malacca, while Joanne’s from Negeri Sembilan and even though they are neighbours state-wise, they actually fell in love in Penang at Excel Point Community Church. While she was checking out the cool drummer-boy, he was checking her out on Facebook, and that’s how it all started.

Both were very natural on camera, especially with Tze Seong being the joker, all smiles, in front and behind the camera were genuine, and we had a great time shooting, especially in Malacca when we truly had fun ourselves! The cafe at the of the video is actually just off Jonker Walk, called Calanthe Art Cafe, and they were very kind to allow us to shoot many shots within the premise during peak hours!

Enjoy!

Wedding Video Highlight: Roger & Cheryl

It was a beautiful day to get married at Passion Road. Tears rolled, hugs were given and laughter filled the air. Heartfelt, handwritten vows were uttered by Roger and Cheryl… deep down, our own hearts swelled with love. This is why we do what we do. To record moments like these…

“We are very very happy with how the same day edit pictures and video turned out. The way your team worked on our wedding day was truly impressive and very professional. We especially want to thank you for the energy and enthusiasm that you brought to the shoot, the way that you were directing us on how to pose and your creative ideas really shows in the pictures. We sometimes forget that you are pregnant and i think sometimes you forget too, when you were moving furniture and items out of the shots. The level of commitment that we have seen from you and your team in order to get the best shot is truly amazing, from your team being exposed to the heat and rays of the sun, to lying down on the floor or grass to get the best angles, to scouting for the best spots, and directing us not so photogenic people to look good in your shots.

On behalf of Roger, he would also like to say thanks for your patience during the shoots. As he was quite tense but you were always there to remind him to smile and relax.

We cannot express how much we love the same day edit photos and how much we appreciate the hard work that your team have put in.”

Feature your wedding on an International Travel Channel

Hi everyone! We’re involved in a really cool, upcoming project and we’d love to get you involved too! It combines 2 of my favourite topics: Travel and Weddings.

For those who have been reading this blog for sometime, you might know that I started out my career in the local film and television line. For many years, I edited TV programs, dramas, films, documentaries… and also directed some episodes of various television programs. Then in 2007, I began to explore the world of weddings through my camera lens. You can read more about my history here.

So how is this relevant to what I am about to say?

Well, basically, we will be involved in a new project involving an international travel channel that broadcasts to 120 countries worldwide. No, this doesn’t mean that we are no longer photographing weddings. Every now and then, I believe in doing new things that will help fuel creativity, and though it’s been a while since I directed a TV program, this is something I’m excited to do.

So… this is where you come in.

We are looking to feature weddings in Malaysia, Indonesia (Bali), Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines and Singapore. For each episode, we will feature one local couple and one couple who are traveling to that destination for their wedding. If you are getting married in these locations within the months of May-August 2012 and would love to have your wedding featured internationally on television, do contact us!

Please email grace.tan [at] stories.my with these details:

1. Your name & your fiance’s name

2. The location and date of your wedding

3. Why you think your wedding should be featured (or perhaps some unique details about your wedding plans)

4. Include a photo of the both of you

And that’s it! This is not a contest. We will select the couple based on the best story that fits our requirements. We are excited to hear from you, so do email us soon!
