Family Portraits: Dr Nick Boden & Elaine Daly

We’re glad to have the opportunity to meet Elaine Daly, actress, TV host, former beauty queen and National director of Miss Universe Malaysia Organization together with her husband, Dr Nick Boden, who is an accomplished chiropractor, originally from South Africa. As a family, they were both warm and welcoming as the team headed over to their home for some family portraits. We were pleased to be acquainted with Eva and Mia, their adorable daughters. Not to mention, their lovely dog who happily sat there for some photos (though refused to be in the group shots).

Although it was a drizzly day, we managed to sneak some photos out in their backyard, making images in corners they said they hardly visited. Thank you for your being so accommodating and we hope you enjoyed the session as much as we did!

Nick and Elaine are supporting our fund raising campaign for Make-A-Wish Malaysia. We aim to raise a minimum of RM5,000 to donate towards critically ill children so that they have the courage to face the future. To find out more about this fund raising campaign, and how you can help by booking a photography session with us, please visit www.stories.my/make-a-wish.

1st Birthday Portrait: Zoe, Calvin & Queenie

When you have a birthday party that has awesome props, why not reuse it for a family portrait session at the studio the next day? We love this pastel theme, perfect for a little girly-girl. If you would love to have a styled portrait session at our studio but do not have the capacity to decorate it like these, you can contact us – we do have some props at the studio, or we can point you to a planner that can help bring your vision to reality. The only thing we definitely cannot do is whip up a cake from our fridge! You would have to order one for your session if you are interested in having a cake smash session too.

Family Portraits in Desa Park City: Ranjini & Rune

Rune is from Denmark and Ranjini is Malaysian. 10 years ago, they met by chance at the now defunct Bar Savahn in Heritage Row.  It so happened that he was standing at Ranjini’s spot at the bar when she returned from the washroom. That was the first time she saw him and spoke because she wanted her spot back.  He was happy to move a bit but stayed to keep talking. It took Rune 6 months to woo Ranjini because she was not into younger men. Rune said that he was the Danish national salsa champion (not true), and yet 5 years later they got married with the most awesome wedding! Two years after that they had Noah, and another 2 years later, Luna. We were privileged to have met this amazing family in a fun filled photo session in Desa Park City.

3 Generations: Yam Family

It was a fun photo session for the ladies of the Yam family. Candy and her sister Ann decided that they wanted to capture some moments together with their mother in this session. Together with Ann’s daughter, the photo session brought together 3 generations of women in one shared experience. Ann was the mastermind behind the coordinated outfits which made it look like an editorial shoot for a magazine! With their long legs, they certainly could pass off as professional models. (By the way, having your hair and make up done professionally makes a huge difference to your images!) Thank you for bringing your family to our studio, Candy!

Mum’s the Best!

In May, we ran a Mother’s Day contest with Eka Roots to celebrate that beautiful woman in our lives. It was wonderful to read the many entries, sharing their thoughts on why their mum deserved to win our Pamper session for 2. But alas, we could only choose one winner… and that was Siew Keng and her mum. This is what she wrote about her mother:

Turning 80 this year, she looks 20 years younger. Her youthful look is because she’s filled with so much joy and love that constantly is poured out to those around her. That’s her love language, acts of service. She never tires to help those in need of care, love and companionship. She’ll run to the market to buy the best produce to boil nourishing soup for those who are sick, she takes the effort to visit her lonely or sick neighbors, she mobilises her other friends to visit the less mobile friends.
Mum, thank you for being my role model. A woman that has such a big and caring heart, even right at this age ripe old age. So selfless and compassionate. Filled with life and cheekiness. I will try to be more like you, a people-centric person.

Mum’s been the pillar of strength in this family as she single-handedly brought the both of us up, growing up, we were never missing out on anything in life. She’s wise, full of perseverance, has tenacity, organised, focused. She’s also caring, proactive, God-centered, loving, selfless, generous. Both our parents have given us such a strong legacy to exemplify. We are blessed.
