Wedding Video Highlight, Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe: Alex & Lenny

We filmed Alex & Lenny’s #SagoGulaMelakaWedding at the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Crystal Crown Hotel Petaling Jaya recently. We loved how it was full of laughter, made even more colourful by their fun friends who performed at the wedding. There were heartfelt moments when Lenny’s mom teared as she walked her down the aisle at the church. We felt truly honoured to be part of this beautiful occasion.

Alex & Lenny’s Story

It all started in 2010. At a fitness outfit called Original Bootcamp Malaysia (OBC). Training was at 5.45am, 3 times a week at Padang Astaka. Sometimes after the training, the recruits as they were called, often hung out for breakfast and also went on hikes together at various locations within the Klang Valley. It was through this activities that Alex and Lenny became good friends.

Interestingly, they were also ‘technically’ colleagues. Alex worked at BMW Malaysia based in Cyberjaya while Lenny worked at BMW Financial Services Malaysia. So they often met when there were company events. Then one day in October 2012, Lenny got offered a position at BMW Financial Services Australia, based in Melbourne. Alex was devastated – and he didn’t know why. It then clicked that he’d miss her more than he would miss a good friend who got a transfer overseas.

Lenny was scheduled leave and start her new role in Melbourne on 16 December 2012 (a significant date since it was also the date of the wedding). So Lenny and Alex increased the frequency of their OBC activities, hiking excursions and happy hour sessions. There was just something there and they just wanted to make the most out of their remaining time together.

As the days came closer towards Lenny’s departure, Lenny and Alex grew closer too (movie dates and teddy bears involved). And then the day of Lenny’s departure came, and despite the impending separation, they finally spoke to each other about being together and…that was the conversation that sealed it in for them.

Embarking on a long distance relationship (LDR) is no easy feat. But they survived. In August 2016, Alex made the move to Australia and planned to pop the proposal question at the Coldplay concert on 9 December 2016.  The stage was ‘literally’ now set. After weeks of memorising the order of the setlist, Alex picked ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ to be the song where he pops the question. The song came. She said yes! Everything after was Magic. An Amazing Day it was with a Sky Full of Stars. Again, literally.

Wedding Video Highlight: Mohd Faez & An-Nuura

Interestingly, we got to know Mohd Faez’ mother, Tengku Puteri Zahariah through one of our photographers, Jennifer who sometimes moonlights as an Uber driver. We were hired as Tengku’s personal videography team for the dinner reception at Sime Darby Convention Centre. She was crucial in planning the entire wedding dinner reception, and naturally, wanted everything captured meticulously. The team met the couple on the wedding day itself and we’re pleased to be part of such a beautiful occasion.

Comma Pre-Marital Series 03: Communication & Conflict

Our tongue has the power to build or tear down. With our words, we can either encourage someone or make them feel like the lowest person on earth. How do you handle conflict? Do you recognize these harmful ways of communicating in yourself?
After being married for 11 years, I realized that staying connected with each other is one of the biggest issues I face. When conflict arises, it’s easy to just ignore the problems and then carry on with life. We go to work, we come back, deal with kids, and the relationship becomes functional. Dealing with issues is hard but it is necessary. We need to work hard at maintaining each other’s emotional tanks. So learning to communicate and deal with issues is a huge part of it. I hope this video helps you! Do also subscribe to our newly launched YouTube channel so that we can have more than just my family and friends watching this. :)

Wedding Video Highlight: Ming Han & Su Yen

Ming Han, one of the Mings behind Malaysia’s famous YouTube channel, The Ming Thing is now hitched (check out #mingsubingsu)! This is one of our most emotional weddings ever. There were so many tears shed at this wedding, it made us feel like crying too! Interestingly, Su Yen used to be an intern at Integricity years ago… she wasn’t involved in photography or video, but she was doing graphic design for the digital team. Su Yen, as a talented make up artist in the industry has also worked together with us on a few projects. And funnily, a few months ago, I met Ming Han for the first time when they rented our house for a Ming Thing shoot. So we are glad to be part of their amazing wedding day.

Su Yen met Ming Han in church but their communication with each other was limited to mostly work-related stuff. They were both not each other’s “type” but God had other plans in store for them! It wasn’t until they found comfort in each other while going through rough patches that they realised there could still be hope and love with the right person.

Working in the entertainment industry which is so people-oriented has it challenges. Ming Han credits Su Yen for his ability to be the best he can be because of Su Yen’s living example of care, patience and grace, which has rubbed off on him too. It is endearing to hear them speak of each other because it is filled with so much love and respect. Congratulations, Ming Han & Su Yen… the journey ahead is going to be really beautiful yet filled with challenges. Ultimately, God is the one who will hold your hands as you walk along this path together. Lots of love from all of us.

Hindu Wedding in Malacca: Jason & Seetha

If you love whirlwind romances then you’ll certainly love the story of Jason & Seetha. They met while waiting to catch a flight home after a marathon in Penang and found that they were seated in the same row once they got on! Jason wasted no time in texting Seetha once they got into their own cabs and sent her flowers just three days after they met. They had their first date a week later and after only 21 days since meeting each other, the three precious little words “I love you” sealed the deal.

They love each other fiercely, but it doesn’t stop there. Their love extends to traveling (they have covered 15 countries over 2 continents!) as well as to leading an active lifestyle together (which includes marathons, duathlons and Mount Kinabalu too).

Jason and Seetha are genuine and generous in their love for others too. It’s not difficult to feel their enthusiasm for life rubbing off on you through your interaction with them. We have enjoyed being a part of their wedding and wish them both the very best life has to offer!

We want to also thank the couple for a beautifully written testimonial!

“I have known about Stories.my for many years now but I did not dare contact them as I thought they would be totally out of our budget. And because my husband and I had so many things going on at the same time, I almost did not hire a videographer at all. Not sure what got into me at the last minute, I finally contacted them a month before the wedding, they were available (thank god!), their pricing was a little pricey but acceptable and reasonable considering we did not have much time left and also the number of people working (3 videographers) for 2 days, and the amount of work they were putting in. It was definitely worth it!

A few points to note.
1) The team from Stories.my were the MOST professional team of all the vendors my husband and I worked with. They had a contract (No other vendors we liaised with had a contract). They replied FB messages promptly/immediately. They replied emails promptly/ immediately. They answered all our questions. They chased me and my husband for details they wanted. They had a questionnaire to understand our entire wedding process/details (tedious but very good because they want to know exactly what’s going on!). They set up a conference call with us to speak to us face to face because we are living overseas. They also set up a whatsapp group chat to chat with us and make sure everyone was in the loop. They really know their job & what they are doing, they are a bunch of very young hardworking true to their job sort of people!

2) After dealing with some diva vendors I was really afraid that the team at Stories.my would be a bit diva to me which I really cannot handle, but it turned out, they were the nicest, sweetest people ever to work with. Nick, Joel and Chi Yin were like the kindest people ever. I can’t remember if it was Nick or Joel, but one of them said to me, “I really love you guys” at the end of our wedding dinner, that was really heartwarming to hear.. It’s so nice to work with such sincere people who genuinely love their job!!.. and I have a strong feeling that it will reflect in our wedding video. I remember, after the dinner, I gave Nick, Joel and Chi Yin a hug before saying good night and good bye. Chi Yin even sent me a text the next day to say bye and that they were leaving to go back to KL. As you can see based on my review, these are really nice, kind, sincere, genuine people. It’s not easy to find such people these days. And I feel so lucky to have such passionate young people provide their services on our wedding day.

I definitely highly recommend them and in my opinion, they were really worth it.
Thank you so much Nick, Joel, Chi Yin, Grace and Yu Ming. Wishing the team at Stories.my all the best in your future endeavours. Take care and till we meet again!! Cheers!!”
