Unique Places to Throw Your Kid’s Birthday Party

As a mother of two, I love planning themed birthday parties for my kids and finding unique ideas to execute to make their birthdays extra special. In fact, when my daughter was 4 years old, we came up with a list of fun party themes we could do in the coming years. But I find that as the years go by, we start to slowly run out of ideas. So, I thought what better way than to compile a list of unique places to hold a party for parents who are struggling to think of fun things to do around KL and PJ. From a whimsical kids spa to rolling fun and exciting outdoor adventures, these unique kids’ party ideas will turn the special day into an unforgettable experience.

Jac & Ivy

Get a pampering kids nail spa experience at Jac and Ivy. Kids get wrapped in luscious mini-sized ropes (yes, they have one for both girls and boys) and sip drinks while getting kid-friendly face masks and water-based manicures and pedicures. The spa uses Puttisu products from Korea, which have 100% kid-friendly and non-toxic ingredients which are suitable for children ages 3 and up. Kids get their own little corner for their pamper session on mini chairs, while parents can also relax and indulge in a nail session of their own. Jac and Ivy also create a special birthday tea party with mini treats, decorations, and they can even get a photography session on the spot with Stories.

Rollerwa

Get the party rollin’ with roller skates! Roller skating is making a big comeback and what better way to do it with a cool laser-light ambience filled with the latest k-pop songs? At Rollerwa, there are plenty of Instagram-worthy places to take photos and places to rest if your feet get tired. If you are new to skating, fear not! They offer walkers on wheels for beginner skaters on weekdays, and there are places at the side with less slippery mats and hand-holding bars for you to practice your skating skills. If your kid is an avid skater, they are allowed to even bring their own quad roller skates (no rollerblades). They provide both skates and safety gear so you just need to show up. For birthday events, Rollerwa has a private party room set aside, which allows you to bring your own food and drinks for the special occasion.

Yuin Quan’s 21st Birthday

We’ll admit, we’re starting to really love cosy parties. Yuin Quan celebrated her 21st with her closest friends and family at the gorgeous Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Kuala Lumpur. It was a simple affair… just dinner, cake cutting, and photos. But because the exquisite decor and guest outfits were so glamourous, it almost felt like a wedding! The birthday lady herself was adorned in a bejewelled gown for the occasion.

While everyone enjoyed the oysters, cocktails, and warm company… we were just glad to be there to capture all details of the day!

Sherlyn’s Birthday Bash at De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan

What better way to celebrate life than with good friends and a little bit of glamour? Okay, maybe a lot of glamour! This gorgeous setup was the result of a fantastic collaboration with our friends from SupaDupaCircus, I Heart Party, Ynghuey Cake Design, Magician Charls, and De.Wan 1958 – a restaurant and event space by none other than Chef Wan.

Elroy from SupaDupaCircus made a dazzling pair of gold balloon wings for the birthday lady, and everyone who arrived received a fancy racing headpiece for the party. The I Heart Party team did such a fantastic job with the décor that almost everywhere you looked became a great backdrop for fun photographs!

If you love throwing parties just like Sherlyn’s, we’re offering a package deal with this amazing team. Have a look at the photos below and get in touch with us to plan.

Rishvan’s 1st Birthday Party

On a sunny day in February, Prabagaran and Kawsalya threw a little party for their son’s first birthday right in their backyard. There was a kids pool complete with a slide and coloured balls for water play. They had their closest friends and family gather round. The birthday boy loves the “Wheels On The Bus” song and gets very excited about anything that goes in circles – whether its a steering wheel or a toy car. So the birthday was themed after busses – including the cake! The kids had a splashing great time and it was fun being able to capture their little expressions.

Krysta’s 1st Birthday Party: Little Miss Theme

It’s been half a year since my beloved daughter Krysta turned one. It really just occurred to me how fast the year goes by (especially after they turn 1). When she was a baby, I would photograph her every month, just to see her physical changes. Maybe it was more apparent then… roll over, tummy time, crawling, walking… they were very real milestones. But after she turned 1… I don’t think I made such an effort to photograph her little moments or new milestones.

Now, with baby number 2 on the way, I have an even bigger challenge… to make sure I document his life with equal passion as I did Krysta’s. Even with the pregnancy, I am really not that ‘aware’ of the progress… when people ask me how far along I am… I have to think twice before replying. And that too, is with some hesitance.

I recently wrote a blog post about my intention to make time for family despite work commitments. I really do count it a blessing when I can spend half a day here or there midweek with my daughter, just doing simple things like reading a book together or playing chase in the living room.

Anyway, here’s some really belated photos of Krysta’s first birthday with a Lil’ Miss Theme. We chose the character Little Miss Chatterbox for her. Love the detail on the cake. I designed the logo and it was beautifully translated onto the cupcakes. We made little stickers with the logo too and placed it on cups and goodie bags. About 2 weeks before the party, I managed to find the Mr Men and Little Miss themed books from the Big Bad Wolf sale at a huge discount! So that made really nice gifts for the kids who came.

The food was a selection of my favourite hawker stall foods… everything from a lok-lok van to Village Park nasi lemak, to rojak from Bayu Timor… everyone loved it.

Photos were taken by Diane, and a few by Weiming.
