Wedding in Brunei: Brandon & Alison

Brandon, being an avid photographer, naturally was very involved in the selection process of a wedding photographer for his big day. We chatted over Skype months before the wedding, and I got to know that he and Alison had been together for 7 years, but they were currently living in two different countries – he in Hong Kong and Alison in China, her home country. Brandon’s family moved from Sarawak to Brunei years ago and this was where he grew up. It was my first time to Brunei, and it reminded me of Malaysia years ago… the wealth of the country doesn’t seem to reflect in its architecture. Jamie and I spent the night before the wedding going to the local night market and tasting red durian for the very first time.

Brandon’s wedding was held at the famous Church of Our Lady of Assumption in Brunei. The dinner was held at this location which I was told, is one of the best in Brunei – The Empire Hotel & Country Club. I was blown away at the grandeur of the decorations at their wedding. It was just so breathtaking. There were royalty VIPs present at the wedding, and from his dad’s speech, it was obvious that he was proud of all Brandon had achieved in life so far, including being listed under Forbe’s 30 under 30 list.

Thank you, Brandon for your hospitality and for making us feel so at home. I wish the both of you years of happiness and joy!

Wedding Video Highlight: Ming Han & Su Yen

Ming Han, one of the Mings behind Malaysia’s famous YouTube channel, The Ming Thing is now hitched (check out #mingsubingsu)! This is one of our most emotional weddings ever. There were so many tears shed at this wedding, it made us feel like crying too! Interestingly, Su Yen used to be an intern at Integricity years ago… she wasn’t involved in photography or video, but she was doing graphic design for the digital team. Su Yen, as a talented make up artist in the industry has also worked together with us on a few projects. And funnily, a few months ago, I met Ming Han for the first time when they rented our house for a Ming Thing shoot. So we are glad to be part of their amazing wedding day.

Su Yen met Ming Han in church but their communication with each other was limited to mostly work-related stuff. They were both not each other’s “type” but God had other plans in store for them! It wasn’t until they found comfort in each other while going through rough patches that they realised there could still be hope and love with the right person.

Working in the entertainment industry which is so people-oriented has it challenges. Ming Han credits Su Yen for his ability to be the best he can be because of Su Yen’s living example of care, patience and grace, which has rubbed off on him too. It is endearing to hear them speak of each other because it is filled with so much love and respect. Congratulations, Ming Han & Su Yen… the journey ahead is going to be really beautiful yet filled with challenges. Ultimately, God is the one who will hold your hands as you walk along this path together. Lots of love from all of us.

Wedding at St Regis, KL: Fang & Claire

The best kind of love develops over time. Qing Yao and Claire first met in college but love did not bloom at that point in time. They worked together on a project which gave them the opportunity to get to know one another a little better, but that was all there was to it then. Ending up in the same university in Melbourne was the turning point.

It was there that Qing Yao asked Claire out on a date on his birthday so she couldn’t say no! Their first date couldn’t be more perfect in Claire’s eyes. It wasn’t just the Japanese meal, movie or drink thereafter that closed the deal… it was how compatible they were, sharing similar values and ideas, and never encountering an awkward silence!

One thing that has made a huge impact on Claire since that first date is how Qing Yao has encouraged her to chase her dream of owning a fashion empire in the future. Just by doing that, he has given her the assurance that he’s committed to fully supporting her as they start this journey as husband and wife. We wish them both all the love and good wishes on this journey, and we’re so glad we got to be a part of their wedding!

Grand Hyatt Dinner Reception: Calvin & Queenie

After we photographed Calvin and Queenie’s New Zealand wedding, they came back to KL to have their dinner reception at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. I always love the view of the twin towers from the sky lobby… it looks so majestic the moment you exit the lifts and enter the lobby. We were also blown away by the beautiful decorations at their wedding dinner. Long dinner tables are really unconventional for Chinese Malaysian weddings, but it seems to be the trend nowadays. If you are looking for a planner to help you coordinate all of these details while you are overseas, check out Mint Events & Soirées who were the planners for this wedding.
