The Wedding of Daniel & Prisila

Daniel and Prisila’s fate was brought together by a dental visit. She was a practising dentist and he was her patient. He needed to see a dentist urgently one day and got her number from a mutual friend. Making the appointment just the night before, he told us, “From her profile photo, I realised she was hot!”

He didn’t have another reason to see her after that appointment but she definitely lingered on in his mind after. “She was very professional yet ever so sweet and gentle. She put on a surgical mask and started treating me. All I could see were her eyes and I couldn’t help staring. I distinctly remember being mesmerised by them. I remember having drinks with some close friends that evening and telling them about how gorgeous she was,” Daniel recalls.

Church Wedding, Luther Centre: Siu Fai & Chia Wen

20141220_WEDDING_SIUFAI_CHIAWEN_073420141220_WEDDING_SIUFAI_CHIAWEN_0597Just recently, Siu Fai and Chia Wen celebrated the 100th day since they were wed. It was so lovely to see on Siu Fai’s Facebook page this note to his dear wife Chia Wen.

A hundred days from the day, dear Wen,
Everyday as blissful as we felt back then,
I promise my promise to you is true,
A commitment to love, just me and you.

“Matrimony came from paradise, and leads to it. I never was half so happy before I was a married man as I am now. When you are married, your bliss begins. Let the husband love his wife as he loves himself, and a little better, for she is his better half. He should feel,”If there’s only one good wife in the whole world, I’ve got her.” – Charles Spurgeon

Though the wedding happened some time back, it felt fresh in my mind, as if it were just a few weeks ago. I feel privileged to have been given the honour to photograph this wonderful couple alongside my photographer sidekick, Jamie.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting this couple know that they are dynamic, passionate about the things of God, love people and through their actions, put their love into practice. As church leaders in DUMC, their lives have made such an impact to many around them. Just look at the number of people who attended their church wedding!

The Double Reverend Wedding of Ashish & Huiyoong

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” ~ C.S Lewis

While Huiyoong Yong shares  meaningful quotes on her Facebook wall, Ashish Mathews is the kinda guy who Facebooks about “Anyone else at work?”. Weeks prior to the wedding day, Huiyoong plans everything to the tee, while Ashish hunts for his wedding shoes the night before their big day. Yes, they are a colourful couple.

From the moment we met them both, there was this special something in the air. They are like two people who are worlds apart, and yet like Ying and Yang, you can feel that they were totally meant for each other. Unbreakable, Impenetrable, Irredeemable and yet completely in love. Being and living vulnerable is the glue that binds them together. This is Ashish and Huiyoong’s story.
