A Proposal and Portraits at Taman Saujana Hijau – Derwin & Grace

It has been a while since we photographed a proposal, and it was certainly adrenaline pumping to hide behind thin trees that could barely conceal the 2 friends and 2 photographers waiting anxiously for the couple to turn up. But it was definitely exciting to be part of this surprise engagement!

We posted Derwin and Grace’s proposal photos on our social media some time ago, but we would love to also share with you the portraits we took post-proposal! Taman Saujana Hijau is a lovely park to visit for portraits. There’s so many beautiful areas accompanied by tall nourished trees which helps to cool down the Malaysian heat too. A wonderful couple and a gorgeous location, what more could we ask for!

An Intimate Wedding – Ariel & Min Yi

Simple and heartwarming are the words that we would use to describe Ariel and Min Yi’s wedding. We enjoyed the time photographing them, they were very considerate and always made sure we were doing okay. It’s nice to have people who are close to us to celebrate this big day with us. Min Yi wished her mother could be there to witness this day for her. But her mom was remembered through her picture on Min Yi’s bridal flower bouquet. What a sweet touch!

We are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to capture their wedding day.

Wedding: Simon and Belinda

We have heard many love stories from couples over the years, but we just couldn’t get enough of them.

Here’s the story of how Simon and Belinda met.

“I spent 6 years living in Shanghai. After moving to Malaysia, I would regularly travel to Shanghai to meet my friends. Then on one trip, I met Simon for the first time. Between my work schedule and being based in Malaysia, his love for travel, we both didn’t really think that we would be more than just friends.

As months went on, Simon was the first to start affirming that “us” is what he wanted, and his commitment really made me feel like despite all the uncertainty and obstacles, we could work. Fast forward to 5 years of long distance communication and trips, we are now getting married, and he’s moved to Malaysia.”

We love Simon and Belinda’s story, and we are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to capture their wedding day.

Alwyn & Jacqueline: Love Letters and A Wedding

Two people who have been in love for 9 years, yet their love remains fresh as if it had just blossomed the night before. We love this intimate wedding of Alwyn and Jacqueline at Pietro Ristorante Italiano, KL. So many personal touches, and oh, her gowns! The shopaholic streak in Jacqueline and her good taste in all things stylish definitely pays off as you’ll see lots of amazingly beautiful items in this wedding.

But the most amazing thing are the love letters written to one another before the wedding and the vows that cements the whole relationship together…you’ll just have to hear it for yourselves!

Morning Star Estate, Melbourne: The Wedding of Sam & Kathy

Sam and Kathy’s wedding has all the elements that make our hearts beat a little faster. Their wedding day started out traditionally with Chinese and Vietnamese influences, and then progressed to a beautiful outdoor, garden wedding at the Morning Star Estate in Melbourne, Australia. Dinner reception was held at The International of Brighton.

Sam and Kathy engaged us for a pre-wedding some months back, which was photographed by Grace. I’ve not personally met them till the day before their event in Melbourne, Australia. Sam seemed like a laid back, chill kind of guy but one who is particular about his coffee. Kathy is bubbly, cheerful & fun girl who’s into video games along with Sam. They are both really wonderful and easy to get along with.

This was my first time covering a semi-traditional Vietnamese wedding and it was pretty interesting to witness it. There were some similarities to the Chinese tradition like exchange of gifts, the games and negotiation prior to ‘picking up the bride’. The wedding day started beautifully though it was a little cold in the morning (both Alex and I were too used to Malaysian weather!). Blue skies and fluffy white clouds (plus vineyards!) were perfect ingredients for a beautiful garden wedding.

We love how Sam and Kathy personalized their wedding invitation with a wax seal and beautifully handwritten calligraphy by Sam (you’ll see a sample of that later!).
