Family Portraits: Kok Ming & Angeline

5 years after Kok Ming and Angeline tied the knot, their lives have been filled with excitement. They have started a business venture together, produced two lovely girls in the meantime, and relocated to a foreign country with no family support. But despite the challenges they faced, they are grateful for the good and bad times. Striving hard for their children’s future has been the foremost agenda on their mind these days, but now that Angeline is a stay-at-home mom, she is even more thankful for the sacrifices that her parents have made in the past.

“I have been a whole lot more patient ever since I had kids. Been laughing more and happier since I have been a stay at home mom for the past few months. I worry I will forget about all my happy moments when I am old, that’s why I want to have these pictures taken. How I wish time could slow down a little.” – Angeline

As a working mom, I am amazed at all stay-at-home moms, as I don’t think I have the patience to deal with my children daily. I truly have respect for these mothers and sometimes wish I had the capacity to do such a job. I know that I pray daily for God’s guidance, wisdom and patience in dealing with my kids! Angeline also shares about how her husband is a hands-on man, always doing his best to keep the girls occupied with his funny antics and hilarious comments, even playing dollhouse and having tea parties with them frequently!

I really commend Kok Ming for his involvement. Truly, in a world where we can be so distracted, disinterested or uninvolved with our kids, Kok Ming has made time for his family. We need more people like this in this world.

Wedding in Auckland, New Zealand: Calvin & Queenie

20161105_WEDDING_CALVIN_QUEENIE_547 I was really excited when Calvin and Queenie chose to hire our photography and videography team to cover their wedding in Auckland, New Zealand. What a privilege it is, to fly internationally to a country that is famous for its beautiful scenic vistas and sheep! Though there weren’t any sheep present at the wedding, Calvin and Queenie tied the knot on the deck of Hilton Auckland, overlooking sailboats dotting the sea’s horizon. The sun’s rays kept darting in between clouds as they said their vows to each other, witnessed by their closest family and friends, some who have traveled from Australia and Malaysia to be there at the wedding.

That morning itself, the couple had a simple tea ceremony for their closest family members. And after the vow exchange ceremony, we headed to the Fisherman’s Wharf area for some portraits. Halfway through, it rained and we had to seek shelter at some shops nearby. Though Queenie’s Malaysian bridesmaids & sister were shivering in the cold, they braved the weather and were such troopers. Thank you for it all!

Calvin and Queenie are indeed both really generous people, who care about the welfare of everyone who come into contact with them. The 6 of us who flew to Auckland felt so welcomed. It was lovely to meet Calvin’s Taiwanese family and Queenie’s family from Malaysia as well. About a month later, we photographed their KL wedding at Grand Hyatt. It had amazing decorations but we’ll save that for another day.

Family Portraits: En Ruey & Jas Min

20161128-FAMILYPORTRAITS_ENRUEY_JASMIN-115 I love my job because I get to see families growing. I got to know En Ruey and Jas Min in 2013 when we photographed their pre-wedding photos and then subsequently, their wedding. And now, with their little baby who just turned 1! In a way, we get to do life together. Our photos end up as their family legacy, which makes me feel really proud and happy. And of course, emails like these gives us the encouragement to keep on going strong!

“We were totally blown away by the photos from our session on Monday! We are amazed at all the beautiful shots you managed to get despite our son not being the most smiley of moods that day! How in the world did you manage to capture all that?! We were quite disheartened after the shoot that day being absolutely convinced the photos might not come out as nice thanks to Mr. Grumpy but you have once again showed that our worries were for naught. =) Just like our pre-wedding and wedding and family shoot, the photos you take are amazing.

And btw, I showed some sneaks of the baby wearing pictures to some of my baby wearing friends and they all LOVED pictures. You totally made me look like a professional baby wearing model. =D They all want pictures like that for themselves now, so you may or may not be getting some requests for baby wearing shots in the future. ;)

Please never stop doing what you do as the world will be a much sadder place without all your amazing smile inducing pictures. =)

Two cute girls belonging to Brian & Catheryn

Ten years of marriage is definitely a milestone worth celebrating! Since marriage is so much hard work, it’s always good to reflect on life and pat yourself on the back for making it thus far. Brian and Catheryn chose to celebrate their 10 years together with their very first family photo session at our studio with their 2 adorable girls, Isabelle and Gabrielle.

Zion Lutheran Church Wedding: Anthony & Karen

It’s really an honour when I am asked to photograph the wedding of a sibling I had also been a part of. Six years ago, I photographed Karen’s brother’s wedding at the very same church. It was so lovely to meet everyone again. The same warm family that makes you feel as if you are part of them! Karen and Anthony’s wedding had a gorgeous orange theme. I loved how they infused Indian motives into Anthony’s cravat and also created a modern version of the saree as the wedding gown! Aside from the wedding itself, I love the story of how Anthony and Karen met. It can be made into the plot of a romance movie!

I am a surgeon in Ireland and we met when i was a really junior trainee surgeon. I had done a weekend (3 nights) of call in a row and unfortunately had my wallet stolen from the doctors room earlier that Monday (16th June 2008) just when I was finishing my shift. I got in to the car to drive home with no money and a dead phone. I fell asleep while driving on the highway and had a bad crash with 2 cars. I walked to the closest place to make a call, and called the insurance company who in turn called rescue services.

Anthony arrived in uniform to check me out and assess the damages. We got to talking and I told him about my unfortunate day. He offered to loan me money to get me home and I in turn promised to return the money. I texted him about a week later and we met but we were talking so much I never returned the cash. We then had many meetings as friends where we took his chocolate labrador Archie for walks in the national park. We eventually started officially dating in July and the rest is history. I never actually returned the money.
