Pre-Wedding

Friendships in Egypt

In January, I took a 2 week break to visit Egypt, the land that has always captivated me since I was a child. I haven’t had a proper holiday since March 2008, so this was a much needed break from my hectic schedule. Egypt is a fascinating place, and the pyramids are definitely not a let down!

Alex and I enjoying ourselves in Egypt

One of the highlights of my trip is meeting interesting people along the way, especially since I went the backpacker route. I’ve made countless friends from various continents all over the world, forming the unlikeliest of friendships at times.

One such couple I met was George and Katy while we were enroute from Bahariyya to the White Desert. They are from Taiwan and they have been travelling for 6 months across the world! Wow, I can’t imagine what would happen if I took such a long holiday! The moment we started talking, we instantly clicked. We shared the same 4WD vehicle as we tumbled over sand dunes in the desert of Egypt. Beautiful landscapes captivated us.

Along the way, my husband Alex found out that George and Katy are going to be married this year in 2009. With such amazing scenery before our eyes, how could we resist but offer to take a few ‘couple’ shots for them? Unfortunately we didn’t have a dramatic gown or 5-metre veil (darn, that would have been superb!!). Here are some of the photos that we took of George and Katy in the desert that evening as the sun sets. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage, and the 4 of us (Alex, Sarah, Kristin and myself) wish you the best in all your future endeavours.

George loves photography too!

Behind the Scenes: Pre-Wedding Shoot around Bukit Tinggi

About a month back, our team went to Bukit Tinggi for a pre-wedding shoot. This couple found us through the Wedding Story Pre-wedding promotion, and signed up for our services. However, I can’t put up their photos yet due to various reasons – so I’ll post the photos at a later date! For now, I’ll just show you some behind the scenes shots of us goofing around while waiting for the couple to arrive. For your info, if you are a photographer/client who plans to have portrait shoots within the Bukit Tinggi grounds, there is a fee that is chargeable. The rate is about RM300-400 for the usage of the space for each location. If you go as a tourist, you only pay the entrance fee of RM10. :)

The man that glows…

Pic above: Our wonderful assistant Yih Wen. She has been working on album designs and video editing in the office too. Below is our other assistant Luke who happens to be my neighbour. Howdy, neighbour! He was on school holiday break and decided to tag along.

Doesn’t Bukit Tinggi look like a page out of a kid’s fairy tale book? It’s just amazing. The colours – they are so blinding, I keep thinking of candy canes and stories from Enid Blyton.

The actual pre-wedding photos to come soon! :)

Childhood Montage with a Twist!

Was digging through my old cupboard today and found my pre-wedding video that was done 2 years ago! It was shot and edited by my ex-colleagues and coordinated by my beloved sister. Alex and I conceptualized the idea with my sister. It felt like such a long time ago! It even has snippets from when Alex proposed to me in 2005. *At that time I didn’t know Kee Sitt well, so excuse the home video grainy look! :P*

If any of you are interested in having a video like this done for your wedding day, do call us to have a chat. We’re open to discussing new and interesting ideas that you may have.

Please make sure that you press play then immediately pause for the loading to complete before playing so that it will play smoothly.

Pre-Wedding: Eugene & Stephanie

Eugene and Stephanie found out about Wedding Story during our Pre-Wedding Promotion period in October. Stephanie is from Malacca (hip hip hurray!) and Eugene is Straits born Chinese (baba for those who have heard of that term). So coming from Malacca as another straits born Chinese, I felt an instant connection to the both of them. The Wedding Story team had a blast of a time with the both of them, even though it drizzled a little while we were in Lake Gardens. The engagement video will be out soon (by Kee Sitt and Sharon) so look out for it!

Update: Check the pre-wedding video here

After Lake Gardens, we traipsed to Heritage Hotel at the old KTM station. Thanks to Mr Lloyd Gan, we were granted access into this beautiful old hotel and the rooftop of it. Did you know that a lot of the structures in this building is original, built years and years ago? Even the lift has the original hand crank in it (including a metal cage to hold it in!). The place is so rustic, and a lot of conservation needs to go into keeping the building ‘alive’.

Pre-Wedding: Ken & Cynthia

Cynthia has been an old school friend of mine since I was like 3 feet high. (Ok not that it makes much difference, since I’m only 5 feet tall right now). We have been really good friends since school and have gone through so much together. I knew Ken when I came to KL to work – the first time I met him, I was in the Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) children’s church. He was there to volunteer. I remember him wearing a earring on one side, looking tough and macho, definitely not a person I’d imagine to have a soft heart for children. But ever since then, I’ve gotten to know him a lot better, and I can safely say that Ken is definitely a caring, thoughtful man. Perfect match for Cynthia, who’s always fun and exciting to be with.

So we headed back to Malacca (where Cyn and I are from) for this photo shoot. Ken is from Penang, but, sorry, it’s going to be a one-sided story for this pre-wedding shoot. We had loads of fun doing silly things together. Congratulations on your wedding, and am looking forward to shooting it this 8th of November!

When we were taking this shot below, a young-ish girl passed by us and said that her brother did the graffiti on the wall. She was a tour guide and along with her were a group of French tourists. Perhaps we should have told her that her brother spelt Malacca wrongly!

Ken trying to do the ‘Bruce’.

I absolutely love this little mini. Alex and I found it when we came to Malacca for a recce a few weeks ago, and were so delighted when we spotted it parked in the same location again on our shoot day!

Both Ken and Cyn love the water – a year back, Cyn surprised Ken underwater on a dive trip by unveiling a little banner that she had made for him. It was his birthday and boy, was he surprised!

Thanks for being silly with me!
