Maternity Portraits: Kelvin & Shirley

Kelvin and Shirley’s maternity portrait session had a lot of personality in it. Coming from a creative background, Kelvin had a few of his own ideas to contribute and they were naturally quite different from the usual. We had a great time experimenting with different poses, outfits, and furniture.  Also love the soft 10am light that streamed through our studio windows that beautiful morning. Gorgeous and natural. Studio Family Portraits: Darrel & Andrea

Darrel and Andrea work in Singapore while their son, Julien lives with his grandparents in Kuala Lumpur. They come back to KL every weekend to spend time with him. “We take Julien out as much as possible to expose him to the outside world,” Andrea told us.

The day they came to our studio for photos was to celebrate Julien’s first birthday. Kids grow up so quickly, and this was a great way to remember everything about him at this age. His laughter, his small hands and feet, and how comforting it feels to hold him in their arms.

Weekends like this are really precious for them. “It’s always hard to say goodbye when we return to Singapore. We’ll bring him to Singapore when he’s slightly older,” Andrea says.

Meeting Darrel, Andrea, and little Julien reminds us how a photographer’s job is never just about taking pretty photos. It’s about bringing meaning to people’s lives and supporting them on the journey with their loved ones. Thank you for giving us this privilege. More photos below!

Maternity Portraits: Amy and Friends

It all began when Amy contacted us for her maternity shoot. We soon found out it involved not just one mummy, daddy, and toddler as well… but eight people in total! Amy and her girl friends were about to have almost the same due dates and they wanted to capture this moment in photos together with their husbands and toddlers. What an experience for them, and for us too! They brought two sets of matching outfits, a few tiny props, and it became this uniquely wonderful “friends-maternity-family” photo shoot!

Maternity Portraits: May Goh

We love doing maternity portraits because it’s one of the most significant moments in the life of a couple and family. It also challenges our creativity. We get new opportunities to put their excitement into visual representation through photographs.

May and her husband Gentry spent an hour at our studio for this shoot. We had a couple of props and furnishings set up against different backdrops. They brought two little pairs of shoes and onesies to symbolise the twins they were expecting in December 2019. They also brought a few other accessories and the ultrasound scans too of course.

If you’re expecting soon, our founder Grace (who has two kids!) recommends scheduling your maternity portraits around 6-7 months into your pregnancy. You would probably have the most energy in your second trimester compared to the end of your third trimester. It’s the best time to look radiant and fresh in your photos too, much like how May does in hers. Scroll on to see how they “packaged” their Christmas gifts!
