Wedding Video Highlight at Ciao: Tai Kuan & Pei Yee

They were very young when they met each other… he was 23 and she was 16! She was one of the many students in his class that he was tutoring, and somehow they got acquainted. 12 years later, they are married! You have to watch this tear jerking video to find out more about their story… We’re so touched to see how close Pei Yee is to her sisters. Marriage will change circumstances, but relationships with siblings can stand the test of time. Thank you Pei Yee for trusting our team, and for the lovely macarons surprise after the wedding!

Pei Yee says: “We chose Stories as our videographer for our ROM Ceremony as we really love the videos they did previously. We had our ROM on 08.10.2016 and the video was suppose to be shown during the dinner reception on 15.10.2016. Despite the short timeline (in only one week), Stories produced, i would say, the best video i have watched.

I would say i am a bridezilla and i have watched almost all the wedding videos i can find in the internet. We had high expectations on Stories but the video was way past our expectations. Our ROM video was exactly what i wanted. Stories manage to highlight the whole event, but at the same time add personal touch to the video. Delvin, Chi Yin and Choo Cherk did an amazing job by making everyone very comfortable and they worked really hard to capture every moment they can.

I have watched the video 20 times myself and i am still not bored of it, everyone asked who my did my ROM video and i would proudly say, Stories did.”

Wedding Cinematography Reel

The amazing thing about videos is that you can capture the emotions as it happened… the voice that chokes as she says her vows, the tears falling down the groom’s cheek or a small smile that turns into a big guffaw. It’s so special. It brings you back to that exact moment as it happened, and it is just immortalised. Years later, as you look back on your wedding video or film, it will bring you back to that precise moment.

This is the magic of filmmaking that drew me to it in the first place when I studied Film and Television 18 years ago. Not just because I can create stories, but that it had the power to connect people. I hope you will enjoy this reel compiled by Chi Yin, of wedding stories that we have created for our clients over the past 1-2 years. Filmed by so many talented videographers on our team. Thank you for all your hard work!

Wedding at Le Meredien: Ken & Regina

A KL boy met this cute, dimply Malaccan girl in Sibu, Sarawak. Even though they both furthered their studies in the UK, their paths only crossed when they were sent by their respective employers for a work assignment in Sibu, Sarawak. By chance, Regina was assigned to the job halfway as a replacement for her colleague that left the firm. Perhaps it was God’s plan that it happened that way. So, what happens when you put an investment banker and a lawyer together? It’s either they get along or start blaming each other when things don’t go their way! Good thing for them, they got along, and their chats over dinners and suppers became the basis of a good relationship.

Regina’s initial impression of Ken:
(At work) – Looks unfriendly…didn’t even give me his name card! But dedicated to his work and one that is reliable as he is always helpful
(Out of work) – Always full of surprises and he never fails in any of his surprises for me! somewhat romantic, very caring and thoughtful, a family man. Definitely, meticulous!

Ken’s initial impression on Regina:
Cute and always cheerful (with the dimples), friendly and a good companion as she loves to talk and talk and talk…”you will never get bored even if you get stuck in the lift with her!”. Definitely can’t “drink” at all – 1 shot of whiskey and she starts puking (…in my car)

Wedding at St Andrew’s Church: Matthew & Cheng

Matthew and Cheng met on their first day of college. Coincidentally, they both did not really like each other very much: to Irene, Matt looked like the typical playboy with long spiky hair; to Matt, Irene was this quiet studious overachiever person. This changed after getting to know each other over the years especially when they enrolled in the same university (IMU- Medicine).

Since they organised a lot of university events together, the draw and attraction towards each other became mutual. After IMU, they left for the UK together (Irene in Aberdeen, Scotland; Matt in Nottingham, England). Those long, never-ending 7-9 hours train rides from one place to another (simply because they couldn’t afford flights) were painful and yet memorable.

It was at South France just before coming back to work in Singapore where Matt got down on one knee and popped the question (on top of Baux-de-provence). To make it even more enchanting, a passerby shouted ‘Brava-brava!’. So simple and private yet special and memorable – and the rest is history.

Beach Wedding at Westin Langkawi: Jimmy & Wei Miin

He describes himself as a non-stop talker. Totally expressive, definitely funny and as I discovered at the wedding… a good rapper and dancer too! Jimmy was born in Massachusetts, US but moved to Hong Kong in 2006 and Singapore in 2010. Wei Miin, on the other hand, grew up in Malaysia most of her life but moved to Singapore and subsequently to Hong Kong to work.

Wei Miin is the sweetest little thing we have ever met. Her kind and gentle spirit brings such a wonderful balance to the relationship. I had the privilege of doing a short one hour casual engagement shoot with them before the wedding and found out that we had a few friends in common! We had so much fun at this wedding, it was crazy. There was an emotional first look, heartfelt vows, great speeches, superb dancing and crazy people jumping into the pool. You have to watch the video to believe it. I really love the edit for this 10 minute wedding highlight, beautifully done by Chi Yin.

Here’s an excerpt from their website about how they met:

Jimmy met Wei Miin during a random cooking class he decided to take in 2012 while finding interesting stuff to do in Singapore. Wei Miin caught Jimmy’s attention because he thought she was in a group of students who were young university graduates speaking Mandarin to each other (Wei Miin: Jimmy catches everyone’s attention as a class clown).

Jimmy found it interesting to get to know the quiet young woman who was very disciplined in her cooking skills and decided to meet up with her for coffee (Wei Miin: Well… Why not?). Even more intriguing was that Wei Miin’s friends were mostly Christian and he had a lot of “life discussions” with her during their friendship period.

After some encouraging by Wei Miin’s good friend (Liz) and Jimmy, Wei Miin finally decided to go to Alpha course and to church early 2013. What really sparked Jimmy’s interest was Wei Miin’s true desire to find faith in Jesus Christ, and even going to church on Sunday when Jimmy was not there. During those 2 years, there was a growing in faith in their relationship, a short breakup, and a lot of reconciling of cultural and personality differences.

Despite all that, from Jimmy’s point of view Wei Miin helped mold him into a more and more unselfish person, (Wei Miin: Jimmy really helped me to form a deeper relationship with Christ) and Jimmy was attracted to Wei Miin’s ability to listen, to be a gentle comfort in times of stress, encouraging and most importantly, selfless! (Wei Miin: I love Jimmy’s positive attitude towards life and respect his wisdom in tough situations). Jimmy realised that Wei Miin meant more to him than any other human being in the world and proposed on July 5, 2015 (Wei Miin: it was a surprise proposal at Tuscany and I said yes!).
