Meaningful objects

I guess I am a little sentimental. These things make me feel a little sad. You see, it reminds me of the past. Of laughter, sadness, anger, love… all the emotions that were experienced in this home. And then it brings my thoughts to the present. And what life is really like right now.

I visited my old home in Malacca today. It’s been empty for almost a year now. My parents have moved up to KL since it is no longer feasible for them to live on their own. But when I opened the doors and stepped onto the dusty floor of my living room, I felt as if time had just stood still. Everything was there where it was left months ago. The towel still on the chair, the toothpaste at the sink, the old Maggi mee that I had to throw away, photos of my family…

It was just there.

As if waiting for someone to claim them back.

It is inevitable. My siblings and I need to make the time to pack up the old things and sell the house, but there’s been many memories of this place and I’ve always called it home. But life is temporal and things change.

So, it is time to move on.

Nathan & Ayu: Langkawi Beach Wedding

Photographers: Grace & Mark
Wedding Gown Boutique: Lasposa
Groom’s Attire: The Page Shop, Sg Wang
Make Up: Nicky @ Westin
Decorations and flowers: Darling Florist, Langkawi
Cake: The Westin
Location: The Westin, Langkawi

As promised, this is the 3rd post for Nathan and Ayu’s wedding. I have mentioned it before in previous posts, but I am going to say it again… I love shooting in Langkawi. Even though I’ve been there many times the past 2-3 years, I am still charmed by the place! From the moment I step out of the airport, I just feel so relaxed. It must be the thought of beaches, paddy fields and a slow pace of life that makes me feel happy. And not to mention it’s easy to drive around, despite the occasional cow blocking the road!

This was my first wedding shoot at The Westin in Langkawi. I love the resort, it’s just so beautiful! Be warned, this is a very very long post with lots of pictures!

Just in case you are interested in the other events from Nathan and Ayu’s wedding, here are the links to it:

Nathan & Ayu: Berlulut

Photographers: Grace & Mark
Location: The Westin, Langkawi

This has got to be the wedding of the year! I have so many beautiful photos to show from this wedding that it has to span across 3 blog posts! This is the 2nd part to Nathan and Ayu’s wedding. After the akad nikah in KL, we headed for the sandy white beaches of Langkawi. Specifically, the Westin, Langkawi. When I first found out that Nathan and Ayu wanted a berlulut event, I wasn’t quite sure what it was! Later, I discovered that it just meant ‘changing of outfits’. In other words, we had a portrait session with beautiful costumes!

Ayu’s mother had requested that they did this, and boy, was I happy! Don’t you think The Westin at Langkawi made a gorgeous backdrop for these images? The image below was taken from the 5 bedroom villa (with its own private pool!).

We started off with the traditional Iban costume from East Malaysia. This is so apt for Ayu as she is from Kuching. Even though Ayu does not have an Iban heritage, she used to dance the traditional Iban dance when she was in school. By the way, I never realized how tough it was to make the headgear stay!

This is what happens when East meets West… it’s a dance of two cultures.

Ka Wai’s 5th Birthday

Jeannie tells me that she and her husband Eric makes it a point to take family portraits every year, especially since their son Ka Wai was born. I think it’s a superb idea, since it’s a great way to document your family history and see the physical progress of your child. This year, Ka Wai turned 5, and Jeannie was delighted when she found out that I was able to do the shoot on his birthday! Early that morning, we trooped over to the Taman Tun park and had a great time together. Jeannie, your son is getting bigger by the day, and I do hope that these images manage to capture the innocence of childhood! Ka Wai is great in front of the camera (from all that training you’ve been giving him from those shoots! haha). Love love love his expressions!

Portraits: Kelvin & Corvy

Photographer: Grace
Make Up & Hair: Charlie from Michelle Touche team
Location: KL Hilton & Lake Gardens

What do you get from you combine a hot mom, a cool dad and a really cute kid?

Amazing images!

Corvy has a presence that is just so magnetic; when she is in a room, you can’t help but look at her. She carries herself well, has amazing poise, grace and exudes charm. I am sure that was what attracted Kelvin to Corvy in the first place. Kelvin is a man with style as well. Corvy’s charm and Kelvin’s calm demeanour and soothing voice make them such an alluring couple. Meeting after meeting at the KL Hilton for drinks and long chats soon turned to romance.

This December, they will be having an intimate reception to celebrate their love. I love it that even after a pregnancy and childbirth, Kelvin and Corvy makes the time to shoot some portraits! And here are the photos from the shoot…
