From the fun chip san leong games to the religious akad nikah ceremony, Zaha and Rachel’s fusion wedding was filled with laughter and tears. I love how the bride DIY-ed a tissue paper flower wall for her Chinese tea ceremony, which turned out gorgeous in the photos. The red contrasted so well with the white gown!

This is one couple I have had the privilege of journeying alongside with them from their pre-wedding session to their wedding, and now maternity session. The road to becoming a parent is really special, exciting, nerve-wracking and challenging, all at the same time. It’s the one thing that will challenge marriages, yet draw couples together, in one unified purpose – to give the best to their children. I am so excited for Eu Jin and Samantha as they embark on this new phase of their lives, this March! (It’s a special month too, cause I was born in March as well!)
Micah is a really cheeky 2 year old. According to his mom, he has always been an active baby. So the moment he started walking, he was here, there and everywhere! His smile captivated my heart the day we had our photo session at the Majestic. He is so easy going, loves people and laughs easily. Am sure he is going to melt many girl’s hearts! The grounds of the Majestic is perfect for an active 2 year old to run around like mad, be thrown in the air, or just simply explore. It’s great that Victor and Adriena cherish their family portraits so much that they would take time away from their busy lives to do something different.

It was their love of children that brought them together…and their desire to serve the Lord. Surrounded by children from their church’s kid’s ministry, Samuel and May just considered each other as acquaintance. It was April 2015, and they didn’t really talk to each other. Neither were they attracted to each other. In fact, May was not even thinking of getting into any relationship at that time. It all changed one day, when…
May: …the Holy Spirit spoke to me at night and told me to send “him” a text but I wasn’t sure who that was. So I scrolled down the contact list inside my mobile phone. My finger stopped at Sam’s name instantly but I ignored it at first. Then I scrolled backwards and my finger stopped at his name again. So I sent him a message. Surprisingly, Samuel replied me promptly and then he started to text me from that moment on for a month.
During Mother’s Day at church, he gave me 2 pink plastic roses while the other volunteers (kids impactors) received 1 “purple” rose. I felt weird but received it.
Next, he started to flirt with me and asked me out for coffee after the event. On the second movie date, on 27 May 2015, he confessed his feelings to me. Strangely, he held my pinky finger and my face felt warm and nervous. Then he held my ring finger and continued to middle finger. My heart was beating fast and I didn’t know what was going on. We held ‘fingers’ till the movie ended. And at the car park, he held my hand and asked, “Would you like to be my girlfriend?”
That was how it started.

The shoot idea started out as a gift from Hui Teen, her husband (Njau) and brother (Jun Yong) to her parents so that they would have more recent formal family pictures. The last shoot they did as a family was almost 10 years ago! As the idea became more concrete they thought that it would be a good idea to do it on or close to Hui Teen’s son’s first birthday as it would be a lovely memory for all of them and they would actually have something to commemorate her son’s first birthday. And as it happens, the date they did the shoot was his first birthday.
As a photographer, I encounter many scenarios like these… I suppose the idea of bringing your family to a photography studio 10-20 years ago was really a luxury. In the past 10 years, the idea of photographing your family constantly and regularly became more of a norm, especially since the price of cameras have become more affordable and phone camera specs have improved by leaps and bounds! Personally, I think family photography should not be seen as a luxury that only a select few can afford. I believe every family should look at their family photos as an investment… an heirloom that they can give to their future generation. It’s a record of life!
