Portraits with Asther

It was years ago on a beach in Tioman Island when I first got to know Asther and her boyfriend Francis. Back then, she was a dive instructor and Alex was going through his advanced dive course. Francis and Asther were fun to be with, completely humble people and really easy going. When they got married in 2007, I photographed their wedding in Kuching. I had just ventured into wedding photography back then and they were one of my earliest clients. A memory I can’t forget from that their wedding was how Francis and his heng tais were forced to eat live and fat, squiggly sago worms before he could be granted access to her room.

Now, Asther has expanded her portfolio and job scope; she is a mother and established photographer in Malaysia. She recently contacted me to photograph some profile shots of her and her daughter Haley.

Asther, thanks for the years of friendship… I am so happy to see that your business is doing so well. You are one super talented woman. Catch up with you again soon!

A day with Elsie

Taking portraits just because. Just because you want to remember your youth. Just because you feel you deserve it. Just because those digital pixels aren’t simply digital pixels to you. There’s never a reason not to. With life passing by so quickly and in a blink of an eye, we turn grey, all the more we should cherish our youth. Just allowing ourselves to slow down, feel the grass under our feet, just breathe….

and smile.

Vincent & Jen’s portraits

Photographers: Grace, Johan & Mark
Location: Majestic, Malacca

If you did not shoot a pre-wedding portrait session, you can always opt for a day-after session! You’re now husband and wife, the stress of planning your wedding is over, and you can just relax! The very next day after Vincent and Jen’s wedding, we spent 2 hours at the Majestic’s grounds taking photos. I love the old decor in this place! And also how candies from my childhood memories are randomly placed at various locations within the hotel. Yummy! Enjoy the pics!

Nabil & Maisha’s Portraits

Photographers: Grace, Andrew & Alex

We continue this series of images from Nabil & Maisha’s wedding with a few portraits. This session at Ahsan Manzil in Dhaka was memorable for me because we went to great lengths to do the portraits here, including fighting Dhaka traffic. The location chosen by Maisha is absolutely gorgeous. I wish we had more time there before the sun set. But I am rather pleased with what we managed to get in just 2 hours.

Maisha said she wanted dramatic shots, so we created the following images for her. For photographers who are interested, we used a combination of natural light, speedlight, and even video light to create these images.
