The Wedding of Cui & Yi Chian Part1

This is proof that a long distance relationship is viable and can stand the test of time! Cui and Yi Chian met in the US when they were both university students but had to part ways after they graduated. Yi Chian moved back to Singapore, and Cui lived and worked in New York. Years later, after enduring many long 24 hour flights, Yi Chian popped the question while they were on a hiking holiday to the base camp of Mt Everest in Nepal!

The beach wedding was held in Avillion Resort, Port Dickson. Five of us from the Wedding Story team went down to Port Dickson the night before and met up with Cui & Yi Chian at their family BBQ. Even after 10 minutes of talking, we knew that we could instantly click. They are definitely an adventurous couple!

The next morning, we had an early morning start at 4.30am! When the sun rose, Avillion looked so beautiful…. and so did Cui.

When the guys came over, the girls made them do some really crazy stuff…

20090328_WEDDING_CUI_YICHIAN_0229.jpg

Like dancing like a chicken!

Or putting on lipstick for each other…

Some were better than others… guys you need make up lessons!

When Yi Chian finally got to Cui, she could not help but laugh at his fake ‘mole’.

After a short time of tea ceremony with Cui’s parents, we left for a nearby bungalow, where Yi Chian’s family were waiting.

Then there were the serious family portraits…. and also the fun ones!

It was already about 12pm when we drove to a well hidden light house for some portraits. It was my first time there and I absolutely loved it! The only thing was the terrible noon time sun that beat down on us mercilessly. But Cui and Yi Chian didn’t bat an eyelid. They were super gung-ho to do everything I asked them to do.

One of the scary things…. like climbing this really steep ladder up to another floor. Cui did it in her high heels ok! And came down the same way! Even with my flat shoes, my knees were a little wobbly!

20090328_WEDDING_CUI_YICHIAN_0933.jpg 20090328_WEDDING_CUI_YICHIAN_0956.jpg

But it was worth it!

Finally, we went back to Avillion to shoot some more portraits around the pool side and garden.

We only had a 2.5 hour break before we had to get back to Avillion for the solemnization ceremony. Through out the ceremony, Sharon Chong was working on the slideshow to be shown during dinner. It was a pretty mad rush but we managed to complete it! Here’s the slideshow that we played that night. Part 2 of the wedding to come soon!

The Wedding of Trevor & Rebekah

The last time I visited Langkawi, I was 13 I think. I can’t remember much about the place except that it was really dusty. I suppose when you’re young and on your father’s company trip with a bunch of older folk, you might not enjoy it too much! But a few months back, my cousin Rebekah gave me another opportunity to renew my perception of Langkawi. She sent me an invite to her wedding in the Frangipani Resort, Langkawi! I was pleasantly surprised, since she and her fiance Trevor lives in Perth. I mean, why would anyone come to Malaysia for a wedding, when you have beautiful locations in Australia? :)

The day came, and Alex, my family and I flew over to Langkawi. We had a blast of a time with our cousins. I wasn’t the official photographer at the wedding but was a guest. That was quite nice, though I could not put down my camera during the entire duration of the wedding. I must have been quite a sight, running around in my dress and heels. I am sorry, Affendy, if I got in your way a lot of times! Here are a few shots from the wedding. There are just too many favs, will have to update the rest on Facebook.

It was lovely witnessing your wedding, Trev and Beck.. we all had such a great time. I loved the way you kept it simple and carefree. I must say that this is the first time I see a bride in a short dress! Hope you’ll enjoy these photos!

Kate, Beck’s sister is extremely talented. She was Beck’s make up artist for the day. Now you just have to learn how to do up the hair, Kate!

Doesn’t Rebekah look gorgeous? I know we don’t look at all alike, but we’re cousins, truly! Beck’s mum Helen looks equally gorgeous in the pic above.

After the ceremony, we ended up on the beach taking some silly shots! There’s too much silliness to post up here.

It was really dark where the speeches were held. I was just testing out my high ISO settings and did not use a flash at all. Shot with ISO 5000, f1.8 and manual focus!! Really difficult! I didn’t exactly nail the focus on the shot below but I love Rebekah’s expression here.

Wedding of Jojo & Craig

This was the first wedding that I shot with Kee Sitt after the partnership between Wedding Story and Integricity Visuals was formed. It was held in Shangri-La’s beautiful Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang. I had never been to that resort before this, and I must say, my jaw dropped when I saw the beautiful gardens and beach. Craig and Jojo flew over from the States to hold their wedding ceremony here. Jojo was originally from Penang and the small intimate ceremony was mostly for family and close friends. Here are a few photos from their wedding. We had a wonderful team at this wedding – photos were taken by myself, Alex and Jonathan. Video by Kee Sitt and Sharon.

The cake looks absolutely delicious. I love chocolate!!

Wedding of Ronnie & Ivy

I am really excited to write this blog post. Ronnie & Ivy are my closest friends, and it was really special to have photographed their wedding recently in September. I am constantly touched by their friendship – they are always there to lend support, trustworthy, and always willing to do silly things together with Alex and I.

They even got married at the same place I said “I do” 2 years ago; at Palace of the Golden Horses, at the very same garden! A year back, Alex and I also had the priviledge of planning Ronnie’s surprise proposal to Ivy, during a cruise in Putrajaya. He made fortune cookies for all our friends and hid the ring in the cookie! What a creative guy! We really love the both of you, Ronnie & Ivy. There’s so many photos to share, but here are just a few from that day, with more to come!

The games are hilarious! Here are just some of the things that the guys had to do… Ronnie looks like he enjoys dressing up…

After going through all those obstacles, Ronnie finally gets his bride, and we head off to Tmn Tun park for a quick portraiture session.

We put the red bra to good use…

After all that fun running about in the sun, we headed back to their homes for the tea ceremony, and then in the afternoon to Palace for the church ceremony on the garden.

Ronnie was surprised towards the end of the ceremony when Ivy picked up the microphone and said that she had prepared a song for him! Look at his face… can you see the awe oozing out of him?

Since both Ronnie & Ivy are futsal fans, I couldn’t miss this opportunity to take a few more shots with them, this time with a ball!

Dinner was held at the ballroom after that. God granted them beautiful weather that day – the very next day, it stormed! Congratulations Ronnie & Ivy!
