Pre-Wedding in Ipoh: Aaron & Jamie

It was Christmas a few years ago when I first met Aaron. Jamie had brought him to our church cell group Christmas party, and naturally, all of us were really curious about ‘who’ he really was. Soon, Aaron became a permanent fixture in our weekly Wednesday group. Very quickly, he was ‘approved’ and loved by all of us. They are both naturally talented in music, as they serve in DUMC’s worship ministry faithfully. As a couple, they fit like 2 pieces of jigsaw puzzle made for each other. Both equally passionate about God, responsible and faithful in all they do.

Aaron and Jamie, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I am truly blessed to have gotten to know the both of you so well over the past few years. May God bless your marriage beyond what you can imagine, and may you find many exciting adventures as you travel along this road of life.

Since Aaron is from Ipoh, we took the opportunity to photograph some of these scenes near Ipoh and on the grounds of the Ipoh Turf Club.

Beach wedding in Four Seasons, Langkawi: John & Julia

What is there not to love about Langkawi, especially a wedding at the gorgeous Four Seasons with beautiful white sandy beaches and perfect sunny weather? John and Julia chose to get married at this lovely location, flying in guests from the UK to Malaysia. Since Julia is half Malaysian, I think it was apt that the wedding was held there. We love how quirky this couple is, and how everyone was just so candid and relaxed during a special ‘interview’ session we did on the day of the wedding. I love the story how they met too, but it’s best you watch the film to find out what it is! What an amazing day, filmed by our team of videographers. Enjoy the cinematic film!

Christian wedding at Holiday Villa: Desmond & Sheila

“I was the first one to confess to him, I was the first one to ask him to marry me… I was all out for this man.”

Sheila was one determined girl. They had been together for 15 years, through a friendship that started online during their college days. And what a friendship that has been. One that developed a deep sense of trust, and a huge faith in God that He would make things work between them. Desmond is one who takes his commitment to marriage seriously. It is a serious covenant between a man and his wife, and with God.

I think that is such an amazing quality, one that every woman looks for. Someone who would commit their life to you till ‘death do you part’ and mean it totally and utterly with all their heart. That there are no exit doors, no ‘what if’s’, or perhaps we should think of it as ‘commit till we can’t take it anymore’. No, this is a man who commits to his vows with his entire soul… and what a sense of security it is for any woman!

Their faith in God has brought them through many ups and downs, and I am sure their marriage relationship will be tested again in the future (as with ALL marriages)… but I am absolutely certain that this is one couple who will work hard to make things work no matter what.

And that is what a marriage is.

Enjoy this entertaining video filmed by Felicia, Wee Liem & Delvin, and the beautiful photos by Johan and Ben.

East Meets West, and some chickens: The Wedding of David & Michele

The bride Michele says…

We like to joke and tell people we met on the internet, as that often gets a reaction. The truth is we met in London while working for a bank. The All Blacks from NZ drew us together. We wanted a truly traditional Chinese wedding, and since Dave reckons he is half Chinese, so only a quarter of him needs to juggle between Western and Eastern traditions. Considering that he is top notch in mahjong, can handle sambal petai, all of our Chinese delicacies, and my crazy Chinese cooking, he’s doing pretty well. We have yet to train him on the lovely durian, but I believe with time, he will be fully assimilated. Resistance is futile, my dear…

It was great to relive the moments as the photos made us realise how much of the day we did not see. It made us grateful for our friends and family.

The photographer Weiming says…

The first thought I had was… we have the same surname, how cool! The wedding was held in Seremban and Nilai, with guests from all over the world. It was full of emotions… with lots of laughter, hugs and kisses. David and Michele are extremely accommodating. I mean, David was even willing to take some portraits under the hot sun with his suit on. (By the way, it was photographed at 1pm under Malaysian sun) Family and friends were really involved in the wedding, and Michele’s gown was even designed by her cousin. What a personal touch!

The cinematic film below shows what an amazing day it was and how much fun we all had on that day. We love the personalised vows as well!

Pre-Wedding: Adrian & Pei Hwa

20131008_PRE_WEDDING_ADRIAN_PEIHWA_NL_189

Two students, fated to meet at an induction camp in Port Dickson before starting their housemanship. It just so happened that they were the only two from the camp posted in Ipoh. It was natural that they started talking about work, going out for meals together (and movies!)… and soon, Pei Hwa began to sense that there was more than just a friendship blossoming here.

Unfortunately for Adrian, she told him the line that every guy hates to hear…”Let’s just be friends.”

He was crushed.

It soon became awkward and the movies and dinner dates stopped, except for the occasional hi and bye at the hospital. It must have been fate again, because 6 months later, they started talking to one another again, and he followed her along for a trip to Bangkok with some of her friends.

Adrian: I honestly didn’t really dare to confess after what happened a year ago… but somehow I just felt that chemistry we had together. So yeah just thought a trip or two with others might let me get to know her much better but despite that, still didn’t really want to get squashed like a ripe tomato again >_<. Until she got mad = P

Pei Hwa: I really did get mad and didn’t talk to him or reply his messages for the whole day. Then after, he came and confessed. Somehow, we started dating but we didn’t remember when it was. So in the end, we decided to have our anniversary on the first Saturday of December. Hehe…

Then came our dreaded transfers and the beginning of long distance– I got posted to Manjung and him, Parit Buntar. I had never been in one and it didn’t work out for him in the past. Was difficult only being able to see each other once every 2 to 3 weeks, sometimes up to a month. At times we fought, usually I was the one who buckled, but he never gave up on me. But through it, I’d say we both learned to make sacrifices to keep our relationship going.
