Family Portraits at Lake Gardens: The Chen Family

It’s always a joy to photograph multi-generational families, even more when they’re up for taking it outdoors! The Chen family led by Mi Ghent, together with siblings and spouses, nephew, grandpa… and us, spent a sunny morning at Lake Gardens before everything was closed. We usually have to wake up rather early to catch good morning light before the day starts getting too hot and bright. That day was no exception, and judging from the photos – it was totally worth it! Even grandpa had the biggest smile on his face at the end of the shoot!

Mike, Mi Ghent’s brother, left us a lovely note after the shoot too:

“My sister has been using Stories service for some time now and it’s a testament to how good and professional Stories are. Grace makes the photography session a breeze and makes us comfortable and most important look good on photos.”

Studio Family Portraits: Aidan’s First Birthday Cake Smash

Jonathan and Lay Choo celebrated their son’s first birthday with a cake smash photo shoot at our studio – complete with tub time after the mess! Grandpa and grandma came too.

They took advantage of our Behind-The-Scenes video promo at the time, and this was the result. We hope these little captured moments will give Aidan and his family lots to look back on one day in future. Scroll to the end to watch the video!

Capturing My Journey Towards Parenthood

 Photo from Bin Bin

I’ve never really considered myself to be a very maternal person. In fact, there was a time in my youth where I wasn’t even sure if I wanted kids.

What changed? It could merely be the passage of time and the perspective gained along with it, or finding the right partner to parent with. Whichever it was, since making that decision to have children, it’s been such a journey of self discovery for me and my husband and I’ve realised that this is such a precious time that only happens once in our lives.

Below are the moments in the journey towards parenthood that I now look back on and savour. If I could go back in time, I would have done more to document this experience – especially taking many more photographs!

10-Month Family Photo Collage: Kishore Suppiah & Michelle-Ann Iking

It’s not every day that we meet someone who is willing to come to our studio every month to document their children’s growth. So when Michelle Iking proposed the idea, we were thrilled! Over a duration of 10 months during her son’s first year, she and her husband dressed the kids up and brought them to the studio so we could take a series of family photos. They even came with traditional outfits during each festive season! It was too cute.

We finally got around to putting it all together in three beautiful photo collages. It really shows how fast your little ones are changing even just within a year! Don’t we sometimes wish we could stop time?

A Glamorous Garden Wedding: Kevin & Cherylina

Kevin is a technology enthusiast who loves starting his mornings with a good self-brewed cuppa, spending time in nature with God, and serving people at his church. Cheryl loves fashion, all things extravagant, and has excellence taste in décor. She was very sure that she’d be all caught up in the moment during the day and so the photos had to capture everything she would be a part of or even every minute that she might miss. “I’d like for our pictures to capture the raw, honest, and emotional moments” she told us. We loved that brief!

The couple met at their church almost seven years ago. Kevin says, “I knew from the moment I saw her that she was the one”. That was a Saturday evening apparently, and so the very next day he got to work. “When I saw her on Sunday, I had butterflies in my stomach and clumsily bumped into her ‘accidentally-on-purpose’ to get her attention. It worked! I added her on Facebook soon after and that’s when we started talking.”

“I liked the way he spoke to me and how gentlemanly he was on our first date. He opened the door for me and has been doing that ever since,” Cherylina recalls.

“We have gone through a lot together and even though the journey wasn’t blissful all the time, we’re happy with everything we’ve been through because that brought us to where we are today. We have always been there for each other even through family hiccups and sickness. We know how each other handles stressful moments and we’ve been supporting each other through it all.”

She also tells us that Kevin has been giving her flowers every single month since they first met. In return, she’s helped him level up in fashion over the years (according to him). A decent exchange if you ask us! Of course, the couple have shared many more meaningful memories over the years.

“We’ve got a lot of happy moments and I can’t wait for more to come!” Cheryl says.

Also, we have to say… as far as the new norm of weddings go, this has been the most glamorous one we’ve been to so far. How the couple managed to pull off this level of detail and planning for their big day (despite many changes going on around them) can only be a testament of their shared determination and faith.

Congratulations Kevin and Cherylina! Here’s to building Forever together!
