The Food Story: Pre-Wedding of Chuen Wai & Kim

From day 1, their story revolved around food. It was February 2008 when they first met. Chuen Wai was working in Sagano Japanese Restaurant and Kim was interning at Sheraton Imperial. Despite her first impression of him (that he looked really young, even though he was 25 then!), they hit it off, and shortly after that on the same month, on Valentine’s Day, he presented her with a huge bouquet of flowers at work.

Things moved really quickly from that point onwards, as they spent lots of time talking about where to eat, what to eat, what new foods to experience, how to cook those new experiences, watching food channels on TV together, and traveling to places where food would dominate their itineraries.

However, since Kim had to head back to Switzerland to complete her studies, they spent 2 years in a long distance relationship with a 6 hour time difference. Eventually, Chuen Wai moved to Dubai and their time difference was shortened to 2 hours, which made it more manageable. And once Kim moved to Dubai, everything got even more exciting as they relived their love, commitment and passion to each other once again.

This May, Chuen Wai and Kim will tie the knot, and we would like to wish them a hearty congratulations! This shoot was quite a memorable one for the team, because initially, I was scheduled to do their pre-wedding shoot last October. However, the night before the shoot, I was really in a lot of pain from the Urinary Tract Infection I had, plus I was heavily pregnant. That morning of the shoot itself, I went into labour to deliver Kyle. Thank God for Jamie and Diane who were really amazing as they stepped up to replace me.

So before the shoot ended, I had Kyle in my arms. Though I never met Kim and Chuen Wai personally, I had communicated with them through many emails, and seeing these images made me feel that they are such a fun, relaxed couple to be around. Perhaps one day, we will meet and I would love to sample some of that cooking!

A Colourful & Playful Pre-Wedding: Eric & Sin Yi

20140929_PRE_WEDDING_ERIC_SINYI_085For someone who tests 100% introversion on the Myers-Briggs test, and claims to be a really quiet person, Sin Yi actually surprised me. She must have an adventurous streak to her, since she had ideas of traipsing across construction sites to this relatively deserted amusement park that is called I-City for her pre-wedding photos. Both Eric and Sin Yi are really laid back and easy going people, and I got along with them so well at the first word! Eric claims to be the romantic one in the relationship (says that he cries while watching sappy romance movies) and so he didn’t have a problem cuddling up to Sin Yi during the shoot and giving puppy-eyed looks to her.

Jamie assisted me during the shoot because I was pretty heavily pregnant then, and I was really glad to have her there! We totally enjoyed ourselves that day. Thank you for putting up with our quirky ideas, standing on tables and doing all sorts of fun things!

Studio Portraits

Over the past few years, many families have walked through our doors and spent one hour with us in our natural light studio, immortalising family relationships through our images.

STUDIO_10STUDIO_07Other than cute babies and families, we’ve also photographed casual portraits of couples…

STUDIO_05Boudoir photos…

STUDIO_03Corporate headshots for professionals…

STUDIO_02…The only thing we haven’t tried yet is fitting an animal into the studio!

While most of these sessions did not manage to make it to the blog, I’ve decided to select a few of our favourites and show them to you here. These images are taken by the Stories photographers, mainly Grace, Diane, Jamie, Nigel and Weiming. Do contact us if you’d like to pop over our studio for some portraits!

Casual Portraits: Florian & Marianne

It was a surprise gift for Marianne, Florian’s girlfriend… the portrait session, that is. The both of them hail from Germany, but Florian came to Malaysia on a student exchange program. What a great way to see the world! We were glad that we could be part of this surprise for Marianne! One of Florian’s requirements before the shoot was to have sunset shots. If you’ve lived in KL long enough, you know that sunsets could be a daily occurrence or none at all! So our photographers Weiming and Nigel were a little concerned before the shoot, but on that day, they got some gorgeous sunlight. Thanks for working it for the camera!

Pre-Wedding in Ipoh: Aaron & Jamie

It was Christmas a few years ago when I first met Aaron. Jamie had brought him to our church cell group Christmas party, and naturally, all of us were really curious about ‘who’ he really was. Soon, Aaron became a permanent fixture in our weekly Wednesday group. Very quickly, he was ‘approved’ and loved by all of us. They are both naturally talented in music, as they serve in DUMC’s worship ministry faithfully. As a couple, they fit like 2 pieces of jigsaw puzzle made for each other. Both equally passionate about God, responsible and faithful in all they do.

Aaron and Jamie, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I am truly blessed to have gotten to know the both of you so well over the past few years. May God bless your marriage beyond what you can imagine, and may you find many exciting adventures as you travel along this road of life.

Since Aaron is from Ipoh, we took the opportunity to photograph some of these scenes near Ipoh and on the grounds of the Ipoh Turf Club.
