He definitely wins the happiest baby of the year award. Since I started my photography career 9 years ago, I don’t think I have ever met a baby quite like Joash. He is such an amazing, happy smiley baby, who just completely worked it out for the camera! Look at that face, you could be having the worst day at work, but you would feel happy just seeing his image! I am sure he brings lots of joy to his parents Daniel and Spring. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Zeen (Also known as groom)
Definition: Uncle-ish. Traditional. Quiet. Detail oriented. Organized. Smart. Superboy. Weirdo. Worries about being a weirdo. Shy. Not sure of the differences between onions and spring onions.
Janet (Also known as bride)
Definition: A bit out of this world. Has a wild imagination. Crafty. Slow. Stubborn. Loveable. Laughs a lot. Lazy. Messy. Optimistic. Childish. Loves pretty things. Loves quirky things. Very sticky with her groom (like glue).
Little Miss Quirky Janet introduced herself as an alien from Mars. That certainly caught Zeen’s attention at a friend’s birthday party. He thought she was silly and pretty much a cute girl, very childlike and happy. Somehow, these two hit it off, and it was as if the puzzle pieces just fit. Their conversations started off one way, but then the other could just complete it easily. Hours of conversations never bored them. The connection they share is so cute, their friends say they are like little children.
Somehow, their differences made up for each other’s lack, and that’s how the puzzle fit together. When they encounter problems, they never ceased communicating, and that was what brought them even closer together. Faith, hope and love were the key phrases that they hung on to, especially during the 2 years of long distance relationship when one was in UK and the other in KL.
And so, one day, Zeen decided he needed to spend the rest of his life with Janet. He proposed and their entire life’s history changed from that moment on!
We went everywhere. From the beach to the garden and also the city, Andrew and Katrina’s pre-wedding shoot was as epic as their wedding. We recently completed a 3 week wedding marathon with this couple but more on that later! I’m really glad we had the opportunity to be part of this amazing wedding and got to know this really warm and friendly couple. From the start, we were treated like friends instead of vendors. It just feels as if you’ve journeyed along with long-lost friends.
It was 9 years ago that Andrew and Katrina met each other but unfortunately, they were both attached at that time. But as fate would have it, 5 years ago, they bumped into each other at a club. It was already closing time, and the lights had come on. At the corner of his eye, Andrew spotted Katrina as she was being whisked out of the club. He quickly rushed to her and grabbed her by the hand.
Katrina turned, about to land a huge punch on this creep who dared to hold her hand. But much to her delight, it was Andrew… who told her to call him the next day.
The next day came but the call never came through. On the second day, Andrew ‘poked’ her on Facebook, and Katrina called him back… somehow she couldn’t remember meeting him at the club! (Andrew claims she was really drunk).
And so a beautiful journey started as #katandrew.
Last December, I photographed Jonas when he was just a few minutes old. I was supposed to be involved in an exciting moment… to photograph Jonas as he was born, but unfortunately, due to some drama, I arrived at the hospital a few minutes too late. :( After he was born, I found out that he had some lazy eye complications and had to wear a patch for many months as a young baby. It was not an easy phase to go through, but Jonas roughed it out (much to the heartache of his parents who had to see him suffer).
Now, I am glad to see him as a happy, smiley baby, all grown up and pudgy!
Can you see the faint rainbow behind this photo? :) What a lovely sight!
One day, I received a call from Pandelela’s new manager, Jolene Knight, whom I got to know years ago through my ex-colleague, Jek. She casually asked if I would be interested to photograph Pandelela Rinong… oh you know, our first female Malaysian diver who won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics in London. Yeah, like, duh, of course! I was excited to meet this pretty little lass from Sarawak (she is quite petite too, like me!).
I had a brief to create images that reflected different parts of her personality. Naturally, while at the pool, we needed to demonstrate precision, strength, power and determination… but off-work, she is fun and approachable. Thank you, Jolene and Mike for the opportunity, it was wonderful to get to know Pandelela in person.
