Wedding at Tamil Methodist Church: Joel & Priyanka

How did Joel and Priyanka meet? Priyanka told us: “We’ve known each other for about 10 years, and we were mere friends. Joel was a city boy from KL and I was a “kampung-girl” from the jungles of Borneo, Sabah. We both attend the same church, the one we are getting married at, and often see each other in church. Just say hi and bye when our paths cross. One fine day, we bumped into each other in Bangsar and went for drinks. I guess that’s when I fell in love with Joel. It was followed by a few horror movies here and there, as well as a few drinks. A lot of drinks, adventures, trips to Sabah, injuries and surgeries later, here we are, getting married after officially dating for 5 years.”

They describe themselves as a couple: “We’re major foodies! As a couple, we are usually joking and laughing with or at each other-especially after a couple of pints of Guinness! On long drives, we can create our own games. We usually spend most of our time after work eating, drinking, and enjoying a chilled session with good music and being with family and friends.  We recently got a dog who is a hyper-active yet loving companion.  Her name is Ally Rosa. Together, we just love being with each other and enjoy each other’s company.”

On that wedding day, we shared lots of laughter with Joel and Priyanka and many beautiful moments. We shed tears when Priyanka danced with her father and when he passed her hand to Joel. And of course, the wedding ended perfectly with a lot of dancing and fun!

A Glamorous Garden Wedding: Kevin & Cherylina

Kevin is a technology enthusiast who loves starting his mornings with a good self-brewed cuppa, spending time in nature with God, and serving people at his church. Cheryl loves fashion, all things extravagant, and has excellence taste in décor. She was very sure that she’d be all caught up in the moment during the day and so the photos had to capture everything she would be a part of or even every minute that she might miss. “I’d like for our pictures to capture the raw, honest, and emotional moments” she told us. We loved that brief!

The couple met at their church almost seven years ago. Kevin says, “I knew from the moment I saw her that she was the one”. That was a Saturday evening apparently, and so the very next day he got to work. “When I saw her on Sunday, I had butterflies in my stomach and clumsily bumped into her ‘accidentally-on-purpose’ to get her attention. It worked! I added her on Facebook soon after and that’s when we started talking.”

“I liked the way he spoke to me and how gentlemanly he was on our first date. He opened the door for me and has been doing that ever since,” Cherylina recalls.

“We have gone through a lot together and even though the journey wasn’t blissful all the time, we’re happy with everything we’ve been through because that brought us to where we are today. We have always been there for each other even through family hiccups and sickness. We know how each other handles stressful moments and we’ve been supporting each other through it all.”

She also tells us that Kevin has been giving her flowers every single month since they first met. In return, she’s helped him level up in fashion over the years (according to him). A decent exchange if you ask us! Of course, the couple have shared many more meaningful memories over the years.

“We’ve got a lot of happy moments and I can’t wait for more to come!” Cheryl says.

Also, we have to say… as far as the new norm of weddings go, this has been the most glamorous one we’ve been to so far. How the couple managed to pull off this level of detail and planning for their big day (despite many changes going on around them) can only be a testament of their shared determination and faith.

Congratulations Kevin and Cherylina! Here’s to building Forever together!

Malay Engagement Ceremony: Arif & Li Ann

Arif and Li Ann are high school sweethearts who got engaged early this year. The ceremony was held at his house and it gathered their closest friends and family. It was a dreamy event, laced with the prettiest garden flowers and natural light. The atmosphere was warm and charming, kinda like a reunion of sorts. You could see just how comfortable they and their families were with each other.

Arif and Li Ann themselves couldn’t stop grinning at each other throughout the day. We were told they used used to purposely stay back after school just so they would have more time to spend together. And when they weren’t in school together, they exchanged plenty of calls… PRANK calls apparently!

Arif loves coffee and started his own coffee company here in KL after returning from the UK. Thanks to his passion, we were all treated to free flow coffee from Wolf & Turtle. Li Ann also has creative flair and works as a 3D animator for video games! She loves animals and the ocean and hopes to one day be a beach bum with her parrots and husband! We just love how fun and quirky this couple is.

Well, after a 10-year wait… we’re so happy to see them step into a new chapter of life together!

An Intimate Wedding: Felix & Serene

Witnessing couples like Felix and Serene get married despite all the uncertainty that a pandemic brings makes us so happy. The couple arranged everything to be done safely at their own home so it was a very intimate ceremony with only family members and closest friends – all masked up.

Felix’s parents live in Kota Kinabalu and just a week before, he wasn’t even sure if his parents could make it. Being the first child to get married would have been a milestone that his parents might have to miss. In the end, they managed to fly them in just in the nick of time. Phew!

His sister who was in Australia had to attend the wedding through a live-stream video that we set up. Thank God for technology though, it really brings people together in the moment. We could even her crying through the livestream video when the bride and groom were saying their vows. When the ceremony was over, they got a group photo with her through a iPad. A funny experience for all of them with lots of giggles in between.

This was a really special wedding for us to be a part of. Felix and Serene were also so thoughtful, they sent us a cake afterwards just to say thank you and wrote us this lovely message:

Chinese Tea Ceremony & Wedding Dinner: Yun & Madeline

There’s just something about Chinese weddings that make you feel a rush of excitement. Maybe its the flurry of the morning tea ceremony and all its rituals with family, or large groups of friends and family that gather to celebrate with the couple at night. Whatever it is, Yun and Madeline’s wedding day was one to remember. The couple had already done a ceremony in Australia, so this one was specially for very close friends and family back in Kuala Lumpur.

The couple looked stunning in all three outfits changes and the dinner speeches had us and the guests in happy tears! We’re so glad to see yet another happy couple find forever in each other’s arms. See the full collection and watch the video highlights below.
