Wedding in Danna Hotel, Langkawi: Howard & Seok Poh

Photographers: Mark & Ben
Location: Danna Hotel, Langkawi
Wedding Gown: Noel Chu (HK)
Make Up: Pick-a-brush
Decorations: Darling Florist

Howard & Seok Poh have been dating for almost 10 years ever since they got to know each other through the Malaysian Society in Imperial College, London where they were studying. A long distance relationship was inevitable but eventually, the both of them ended up working in Hong Kong.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of city life in a huge metropolitan area where the human density per square kilometer is one of the highest in the world, both Howard and Seok Poh decided to come back to Malaysia and have a wonderful wedding ceremony and dinner amongst close friends and family. Not only that, it was held on the beautiful island of Langkawi.

What more can you ask for? Beautiful white sand for a beach wedding, a huge tent by the seaside for the dinner and great friends and family to celebrate with. That is definitely a dream wedding come true. The atmosphere was perfect, the wind was blowing and both the couple were so relaxed that they decided to have fun and games before the ceremony. So much so a group of them decided to have a water polo match!

Housed at the beautiful and new Danna Hotel in Langkawi, it was great fun shooting and capturing their moments. Even through the weather and rain, both Howard and Seok Poh continued on with the events and everything turned out beautifully including the after party party!

Have a great marriage!

Bloom is…

… really up to your imagination.

What comes to mind when the word bloom is mentioned?

Now, what is Bloom all about, some of you have asked. You might have already seen our 1st video here. And you might be wondering who are these girls in the video. Well, the one in red with short hair is myself (if you haven’t already realized that by now). The other three are amazingly talented photographers whom I call friends (Anna Rina, Fiona Lim & Asther Lau). It’s not easy finding female photographers in Malaysia, so I am always happy to have a chat with fellow camera toting women. If our team is not available for any assignments, I would certainly recommend these photographers!

We’ll be revealing more information about Bloom soon, but do leave your comments here as we’d love to hear your feedback!

Opposites Attract?

He’s introverted, she’s extroverted.
He’s calm and collected, she’s a social butterfly.
He’s meticulous, she’s a little disorganized.

Just like magnets, opposites attract. I know of many couples who are completely different in terms of character (just like my mum and dad) and yet are together. Growing up, I never really understood this strange phenomenon. I suppose it’s natural to like someone who has strengths that can complement your weaknesses.

Alex and I don’t completely subscribe to this idea though. Yes, we’re different, and yet similar. We appreciate each other’s strengths and weaknesses (‘appreciate’ is subjective at times though) but there are many similarities that bind us together. After 5 years of marriage, boy do I appreciate these similarities! We love being around people, are rather sociable by nature, have similar taste in design (thank God, otherwise we might fight over house ID stuff), love the same God, and share the same values in life. Values like, no matter how tough marriage gets, we will never give up; or loving people trumps anything else in life. Bonus point: We love adventure.

Life to us is an exciting journey. I cannot imagine being married to someone who yawns whenever I talk about my photography business, or to someone who hates traveling. Married life to me means that I am able to journey along life’s path, sharing these experiences together. It’s these experiences that glue us together, stored in our shoe box of memories and help us love each other more.

I am contented.

Similar, yet different.

A Blooming Tuesday Teaser

Every now and then, I meet up with a group of really cool female photographers and we chat. We talk about anything under the sun (from pets to work to where the next holiday destination should be). So during one of those random conversations, an idea formed.

So, something exciting is brewing but more will be revealed… soon!

“When you wish upon a star… your dreams come true”

Just like the lines quoted in the famous Disney film Pinocchio, Stephen & See Wan’s dreams came true. Ten years ago while they were in secondary school, See Wan caught Stephen’s eye. Even though they were from a different class, but they got to know each other better while performing their prefectorial duties. Before they graduated, Stephen’s heart was already captured.

In May 2007, See Wan said yes to becoming Stephen’s girlfriend.
1080 days later, she said yes to becoming his fiance.
In September 2010, they signed on the dotted line.
And on the 17th of September 2011, they said their vows on the beach at Avillion Resort, Port Dickson.
