Dancing Around KL City Centre

As a Canon EOS ambassador, I get to test out the new EOS R5 and a few lenses, namely the RF 15-35mm f2.8 and 85mm f2.0 macro. I contacted my friend, Joanna Koleth, who is an amazing dance-artist, and some other amazing vendors who made this shoot happen. Soon, we were doing jumps around KL city centre. This shoot is part of a bigger project, one that involves a few other photographers. But that is yet to be revealed. The theme of the shoot revolves around this word, Harmony.

When conceptualizing the shoot, I thought about this word and what it means to me. A quick Google search revealed the meaning of harmony as “the state of being in agreement or concord.” As a Malaysian, I truly desire a state where the people in our land can live in harmony with each other. Our country is full of culture and heritage, and we’ve gone through good and bad seasons since celebrating our independence in 1957.

Learning how to balance our diversity with unity is not easy. Harmony is not just an outward appearance of accepting each other, it’s respecting each individual as they are. It’s also about merging old and new mindsets so that we can grow as a nation.

It’s a delicate dance.

Nathan & Ayu: Langkawi Beach Wedding

Photographers: Grace & Mark
Wedding Gown Boutique: Lasposa
Groom’s Attire: The Page Shop, Sg Wang
Make Up: Nicky @ Westin
Decorations and flowers: Darling Florist, Langkawi
Cake: The Westin
Location: The Westin, Langkawi

As promised, this is the 3rd post for Nathan and Ayu’s wedding. I have mentioned it before in previous posts, but I am going to say it again… I love shooting in Langkawi. Even though I’ve been there many times the past 2-3 years, I am still charmed by the place! From the moment I step out of the airport, I just feel so relaxed. It must be the thought of beaches, paddy fields and a slow pace of life that makes me feel happy. And not to mention it’s easy to drive around, despite the occasional cow blocking the road!

This was my first wedding shoot at The Westin in Langkawi. I love the resort, it’s just so beautiful! Be warned, this is a very very long post with lots of pictures!

Just in case you are interested in the other events from Nathan and Ayu’s wedding, here are the links to it:

A Sikh Wedding Experience

As promised, more photos from the Sikh wedding shoot. From 3000 photos shot over 3 days, it’s really hard to pick only a handful to showcase on the blog. So we’ve created a slideshow for you to view, which is right at the bottom of this post. I love this shot of Raj & Charan, there’s so much drama to it.

Amy + Stu, The Andaman, Langkawi, Part 2

After the short and sweet ceremony, we took some portraits on the beach. Having sunset shots are great, but timing is so crucial! We only had about 15-20 minutes of light before it quickly faded away.

I love umbrellas. I can now safely say that I have a collection of wedding + umbrella photos. Oh, and I also love veils, especially long ones.

I love the blue theme for the wedding deco, and how it’s so tastefully done! Absolutely love the leaves with the names written on it. Other plus points: Yummy chocs in jars, ready for guests to pick!

Maiyan & Sangeet Ceremony, Sikh Wedding – Raj & Charan

After seeing Alfred & Geeta’s photo slideshow during their dinner, Raj and Charan approached me on that same night saying that they were keen on hiring Wedding Story to cover their Sikh wedding. I was really excited as I’ve never covered a Sikh wedding celebration. Yesterday was the first day of celebrations starting with the groom and bride’s Sangeet. Held separately, it’s a joyous occasion where the groom and bride are individually covered with mustard oil on their faces and body.

There’s lots of singing and dancing, mainly the women are the ones participating. Since I am in the midst of preparing their express slideshow to be shown tomorrow night at the main dinner, I thought I’d share a few shots here. Tonight will be the bride’s mehndi, and then tomorrow the temple ceremony. Looking forward to it! I LOVE cultural ceremonies and colours!!

Part of the ceremony involves a woman being dressed as a man. There were 2 in this party. :)
