Family Portraits: Jordan + Tammy + 2

It’s amazing to think that Tammy and I met close to 30 years ago when we were in kindergarten. And now she has her own daughter Jaelyn who will be going to kindergarten soon-ish as well! What a circle it has been. I am so glad that I was there to photograph Tammy and Jordan’s wedding in 2008 and also her maternity portraits in 2010… and now, their little family! Am really happy that my photography skills have grown through the years together with their little family. They were one of my earliest clients when I started out in the wedding industry years ago in 2007.

Tammy and Jordan, I love seeing our kids together… I hope that Jaelyn, Jenson, Krysta and all our friend’s kids will grow up enjoying each other’s company as much as we have enjoyed friendships with our group of friends throughout the years. As we grow older, let’s take some time to really smell the roses, and spend time with our families…that’s what matters most.

Pink Church Wedding: Edrian & Stella

20130713_WEDDING_EDRIAN_STELLA_0726

“Today is the day You have made, I will rejoice and be glad in it…”

Edrian first met Stella at his sister’s wedding. It felt like a matchmaking party because somehow, everyone were just trying to matchmake them. Stellajane was still in medical school and he was working with no proper direction in life. So Edrian kept shying away and avoiding any contact with Stella. This was way back in 2008.

But the heavens had other plans.

One Christmas in 2011, Edrian decided to drop her a message online, somehow hoping she won’t reply. But after few days, one reply came, which led to another and another. Soon they were all set for their first date – playing captain ball! (rather untraditional!)

Edrian says…

She jumped so high and right into my heart.  I just had to see her again and again. And slowly before I knew it, I proposed to her in the most romantic way I thought possible. I decided to sing and play the guitar..song by KC and Jojo ‘- All My Life. Did I mention that I never sing!? Well must have done something right because she said yes!

All my stars aligned when the right one popped up!

About the wedding…every minute of it was so intense. Continue Reading

Wedding of Zach & Linda

Zach and Linda first made an appearance on our blog a few months ago when we took their pre-wedding photos in KL. Well, this time round, they are back from Australia again… for their Chinese wedding banquet. Ben and Weiming were there to capture all the key moments of the day. So much fun and laughter at this wedding, even though I wasn’t there to witness it, I could see that everyone had heaps of fun, including the grandmothers!

Congratulations Zach and Linda! Wishing you many years of joyful wedded bliss!

Zach and Linda’s Story

I first saw Zach’s name on a sheet of paper on my boss’ desk, I suspected that he was the new guy who’d just been hired. Having been a star performer at work, I worried that this new colleague would be a rival. My first impression of him after he started work was that he felt like a little kid…..

We were eventually tasked to work together and our feelings for each other developed quickly in a short period of time. We discovered that we had attended the same kindergarden together, and that our secondary schools were situated opposite each other’s’ and that we’d attended the same college and eventually the same university in Canberra as well. I also recalled that I’d once been introduced to Zach while at University, but that I’d dismissed him because he had long hair! Finally, fate decided that it was time for us to meet at work, and we’ve been together ever since.

Zach is a very sweet boyfriend, he always buys me big bouquets of roses, writes me poems and he takes very good care of me. I feel very blessed to have him as my life partner.

Together, we love travelling and enjoy the occasional fine dining in Sydney with our friends. Although many find Canberra a boring city, we appreciate the clean fresh air in this well planned city as well as the freedom of driving on traffic jam-free roads. :)

Beauty in the Ordinary: Alex, Grace & Krysta

My father was an avid photographer – the only one in the extended family when I was a child. Clad with a manual SLR, he captured some moments in the family that I think are very precious. Being the sentimental person that I am, I love the photos so much because dad simply captured our ordinary day – they are pictures of me falling asleep when I was doing my homework, my little brother giving my mom a kiss when he was 3 years old and little sister who made a face at the camera because dad was trying to take a shot of her eating.

So when Alex suggested to do a photo session with them at home doing ordinary stuff, I jumped right into it. I thought it would be different from the ones that we have done before and also, new ideas often excite me. Hehe.

I went in with the idea of shooting like how a Nat Geo photographer would shoot – photojournalistic. Some nice wide angles to give an idea of the environment, unstaged, raw and at the same time, contemporary. I thought about the shots that would simply tell a story of their everyday lives – the kind that would make the family feel nostalgic when they look at the shot 10, 20 years down the road.

The shoot turned out to be a very fun and satisfying one! Alex, Grace and Krysta were so natural in front of the camera as I pranced around them with a black piece of something (camera) on my face. I also kinda forgot that I was shooting my boss. I guess it’s a good thing because if I had that thought hovering around my head, I would have a lot of pressure!

I really do hope you like the photos, boss. Hehe.
